Cooper tire for snow

Just got my GLE350 two weeks ago, it came with 20" Cooper Discoverer SRX LE tires
How are they in winter (I live in Maryland)??

Any recommendation on winter tires?

I can't comment on the Coopers, but if you decide to look into winter tires, I highly recommend the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV. I spent ten years as a road warrior in the Great Lakes region, giving me the opportunity to sample a variety of dedicated winter tires, and I continue to have the best luck with Hakkapeliittas. I currently have the R3 on my GLE and the R2's are starting their sixth winter on our GLC. I've had Hakkas on three previous vehicles as well. There are other good winter tires for snow and ice traction, but when you factor in durability, noise level, ride comfort, handling, fuel economy and value, the Nokians are kind of in a league of their own. Unless something changed recently, you won't find Nokians at Tire Rack though. Tire Rack's parent, Discount Tire, does carry the brand, however.

Yes!
The R2/3 Nokians are stellar. Amazing on black ice, and don't completely ruin the handling.

Their All Weather WRG3 {different from All Season in that it's designed for Summers too) tire is excellent, too.
For an All Weather tire though, it would be the Michelin Cross Climate 2, if my wife can get past the looks.

Those are the two "roundest" tires on the market today, in my experience.

Tell her the V tread pattern makes her car look authentic European…both cars I’ve rented in Germany have had V pattern unidirectional tread…including the Skoda KAMIQ I rented last week…where are Skodas made anyway?….sorry I digress…CC2 = great all weather tire and they are “Euro chic”.

Great comment.
She's already wearing Nokian GWR4's on her GLC. The CC2's came out right after we ordered.

Hoping for better selections for 21". The Pirelli Winter MO1's I'm wearing now are no match for 440hp. I have to slow to 10 over advisory speeds, instead of +20.

Unless you live in Garrett or Allegheny counties in MD, I wouldn't bother with winter tires. I live in Montgomery County and have never had a need for winter tires.

We have Cooper tires on 20" wheels and the car has been fine for Minnesota winters. We have snow on the ground for 5 months a year. Nothing beats dedicated snows but for normal daily traffic they do work well enough in the snow.
