Hi folks,

I may have missed this. Has anyone installed an aftermarket dash-cam? Any interference with OE front facing camera viewing? Any recommendations on a HD camera with built in WI-FI for monitoring from phone with an app?

I installed one. There’s a few threads here that talk about it. I installed it next to the rear view mirror on the passenger side at the very top of the windshield. You can also install it directly behind the review mirror on the passenger side if you want a more discreet location that is more hidden from view, at least internally, but it blocks the ambient light sensor. I initially installed mine in that location and I didn’t notice any ill effects from blocking that sensor. But I ended up moving it to the right and top just so I can see the screen.

I installed a https://nextbase.com and simply routed and tucked the power cord to the rear passenger outlet that is ignition controlled. I didn’t want to hard wire it and this arrangement works just fine.

I installed a fitcamx on my wife’s 2020 GLS on Christmas. Super easy and practically unnoticeable both inside and outside of fhe car.

I picked up a Viofo A139Pro over black friday and just did a quick mount today - no issues with the front OE camera. I have to run the wire to the rear for the back camera, but so far it works great like my previous A129Pro unit in the SuperDuty. The A139 is smaller and does not have the built-in display - you view it all from your phone. It's got the latest Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor 8MP camera, which has really clear video in a 4K mode (they call it that, might not be true 4K but whatever - it's dang good).

Hi @Nc11 how’s the App. Seems like folks like the OEM look but the app and user experience is not good.

I honestly wouldn’t really know as I don’t have much of a frame of reference to compare it to, and I have rarely used it. But on the few times that I did, I’d say it’s probably a B- grade. You have to connect to the camera via it’s own wifi signal. Then it’s basically a list lof videos. Kind of like if you had a folder of videos on your computer, nothing more.

if the car were ever in an accident, I would be pulling out the micro ssd card and using my computer to download the video clip. I wouldnt be using the app.

It is really a good camera. Viewed various night and day clips over the past 2 months and I'm very pleased. Hope you enjoy it as well.
