Has Mercedes resolved 48v battery issue since 2022 model?

I read some posts about the 48v battery problem on 2021 and 2022 450.
Has Mercedes resolved the issue?
The 48v mild hybrid system will be used on 2024 350 as well.

Welcome to the forum!

There are a couple of 48v discussions going on in the forum right now.
A Search on this, or some of your other questions, can bring you up to date. Once you figure out how the somewhat goofy format works....

Don't touch the MB 48V system with any length pole until it has 5 years in the market with a trouble-free rating from owners. The trouble-free period for the 48V system has not started yet, so remove this vehicle from your shopping list for at least 5 more years.

If you do buy or lease an MB 48V system, plan on unreliability and many trips to the dealer. If the vehicle is under warranty, the only cost to you is your time. Is your time worth anything to you?

Yes, I read them, and people shifted topic to discuss the battery warranty in those threads

Calm down, Captain Negativity. The 48v system has not been a major problem since the 2020 and early '21 MY.

According to my research on Google and in mbworld, the majority of issues occurred on 2020 and 2021 models. (there was one complaint about a 2022 GLC 300 in this forum).
The 48v battery issue was caused by three things:

1. Ground contact was painted
2. Bad battery part - Mercedes has a new battery part number
3. Old software - Two TSBs were released.

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...06063-0001.pdf

I haven't seen any complaints about the 48v battery on 2023 GLE models yet.
Since all 2024 350 will be equipped with 48v mild hybrid system, ( 350.has much more sale volume than 450), I assume Mercedes has enough confidence that 48v battery is good to go now ?

Mercedes started to use this 48V system in 2017.

Dangerous assumption. MB flopped badly on a high volume vehicle launch (X/V167) and also had problems with W223. MB is a ship lost at sea with no one at the helm. At least no one who knows was he/she is doing.

Wow, talk about overstatements. 5 years trouble free? really? With that logic no one should "touch" MBUX, airmatic, multi-contour seats, ILS, parking sensors, rear view mirrors, MB-Tex materials or basically any damn Mercedes product at all.
I have a suggestion for you, buy a *** Toyota and join their forum and give us all a break.

My 2019 CLS53 AMG and my 2022 GLE53 AMG both have the 48-volt mild hybrid system. They both have been absolutely rock solid with zero problems. They are a fantastic rides and I would not have purchased the 2022 GLE if I had any concerns about the technology.

Get whatever you can find with this system. It is the best of both worlds -- ICE and EV. Don't buy into all the negativity from a small percentage of owners who have problems or from Neinsagers who have no personal experience with this exceptional technology.

I just realized all C class and GLC will use 48V battery system too. Looks like Mercedes is very confident in its 48V battery reliability.

I recently came across two 48v issues on 2023 GLE450 from MB owner‘s club in another country (Asia)

It seems it’s still not 100% worry free..unfortunately..

Oh boy... Yet another 48V thread... OP, I have not much to say but my advice to you is that lemons do happen once in a while, hope you don't have to deal with one ever, if you do have to deal with one, depending on your State's Lemon Law you might not be at a loss other maybe than the time spent.

One key take away is, there are known good experiences from owners of their vehicles equipped with the 48V mild hybrid system. It isn't guaranteed that you will have issues with the 48V mild hybrid system.
