GLE 450 VS 450e
Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I posted in this forum. Some of you may recall that I have asked a question whether I should choose a 350 versus 450 about a year back. I would like to share a very interesting situation which happened to me…I did end up ordering a custom selenite gray color 450 last year. What has happened is on the day of delivery of the vehicle this year in February. I got a call from the dealership that my new car got damaged in transit… I decided to hold off buying a new one as a new plug-in hybrid is on its way…now that I waited for a year more. I went to the dealership again and I believe the plug-in hybrid is coming in October 2022. I did research a lot of pre launch test drive reviews and it appears to be a very solid car. It’s a little interesting I’m asking this question in this group but I do have two simple options one is wait for a test drive car to be a available in October or just order one right now taking a leap of faith…I’m just impatient that’s all (I already waited for a year).

I suggest you do both. Order it now and when the demo's come out go and test drive on and compare it with whatever. You've done your research, and you'll probably love it. If it turns out to be different than you expect you can cancel the order. I'll bet that any dealer would be ok with this as well since they won't really have any trouble selling a cancelled order on what many expect to be a very popular model. Just be up front with them, if they threaten to keep your deposit order from a different dealer. I'll bet the challenging part will be finding a dealer with an allocation with a reasonable delivery date.

Just don't order a weird car. It'd hurt your resale, anyway.

I had the previous GLE 550e PHEV. The car was heavier and had no capability for a spare tire (stuck with crappy runflat tires). It had about a 10 mile electric range. The new version will probably have a 30 to 35 mile range. Great for running errands around town. If you primarily use the car for longer trips, I would forego the PHEV and stick with the simpler GLE450. The new GLE 450e will not be eligible for the full $7500 IRS EV tax credit, and depending on your income or how you equip the car (it has to stay less than $80,000) it may not be eligible at all.

Vehicles gets damaged when being transported all the time, and it is usually fixed at the VPC, what kind of damage are we talking about? Is the vehicle totaled?

Damaged during transit? Are they trying to use that as an excuse to sell it to a different person with a markup on top?

Yup exactly.... I am suspecting the dealership sold it to another buyer willing to pay a mark up but then again OP has the VIN right, maybe someone who has access to certain systems, perhaps Netstar can look it up and see what happened to it?

To OP, did we ever figured out what happened to your car? Did you check the VIN and see where the car went? Or is this a mystery that remains?

New updates to my status
Hi everyone
thanks for all of your messages in this forum. I have a few updates to my process of buying the new Benz. Last Friday, I managed to test drive potentially one of the first GLA 450 E models, which have arrived in dealerships across Texas. I love the car and I’ve decided I’m going in for a 450 E for those of you who may have similar questions about the 450 versus the 450 E I can tell you that the driving experience is excellent specifically in the hybrid mode, I would say that if you drive without the electric power, it is end of the day a 2 L engine and you may feel a little like in power. Overall, I think the hybrid is definitely the one for me and I’m going ahead with it about to order the same , however, I’m a little surprised that I’m going to paint, but I spend about $8000 more versus what I spent for the 456 months back. The reason for that is that the price of the model has increased by three or four grand plus I’m going in for the pinnacle trim as I definitely need the heads up display. Unfortunately, Mercedes has stopped offering these options individually and need to be bought as a bundle. Overall, it is now costing me 84K MSRP.

So was in Chantilly VA today, and stopped by the Mercedes dealership. They just got in a GLE450e, took a picture of the window sticker which had the US EPA ratings.
My wife took the photo and our reflection in the glass was caught on the picture...so I used software in an attempt to make our reflected image less prominent, thus the reason for the odd color.
Anyway, for anyone curious:
58 MPGe equivalent (EV Mode) combined city/hwy
24 MPG combined city/hwy using gas
48 mile EV range
2024 GLE 450e Window Sticker
FYSA, the link below explains how the City/HWY MPG estimate is determined.
Detailed Test Information (fueleconomy.gov)

hi, new to the forum!
I was in the market for a new car pronto. Looked seriously at the Tesla's, but really didn't like the interior quality or the ride. I actually rented one for a week, and no one in the family loved it. Also I owned an EV prior. while it was a good commuter car, I can say that range anxiety is a real thing for me. I would remember to charge it 95% of the the time. But that 5% of the time :O was a rather panicky morning.
So I looked started to look at hybrids. Saw a few reviews on the 450e.
Called up last week, and the dealer told me he had 4 coming in, but they were all spoken for.
Called up Wednesday, to see if any were still available. he said yes, one guy backed out. I went there, test drove the car and decided to take it. Paid MSRP and had it delivered next day.

likes so far: ride, comfort, quality of build, interior materials good. acceleration is good. driving experience is good. I am coming from a BMW, so it is a little different.
dislikes: the ux seems overly complicated. too many layers, and not organized intuitively. (I am new to the MBUX, so a steep learning curve is expected) I had the car delivered, so I didn't sit down with the dealer to review all the features, so I may do that next week.
battery so far gets about 40-50 miles on a full charge. I'll start paying attention to the actual mileage as I get used to driving this car.

Im curious to see how much range you get. I’ve seen some reviews report in the 50-60 zone.
