Need some addtional instructions on the Auto-HOLD feature
Some friends here gave me very informative and helpful instruction on how to activate auto-hold feature, but I have tried it again and again, unluckily, still unable to activate it.
One friend in another thread said the auxiliary battery might be dead causing it, and this feature came back after dealer replaced the auxiliary battery on his car.
Is the auxiliary battery he referred to the regular 12V battery?
I have a brand new 2023 GLE450 with only 1,000 miles so far. If the 12V battery is truly dead, would the system pop up any information or any other symptoms?
Thanks in advance!

It's "the harder you try to get it right, the more frustrated you become" things, like finding the rear lift-gate kick to open sweet spot.
Quit trying for a few days, then sometime when you're waiting at a light, say "I wonder if I pushed again, would it work" and casually try. It'll come to you.

This is one of the feature which once you know the "trick", its very easy to activate and use.
What works for me, is to first bring the car to a complete stop. Once the car is stopped, while keeping the foot on the brake pedal, do a quick "push" on the brake. It doesn't need to be push all the way down, just need to be quick.
(using some number for example , when the car is moving, apply brake with 20% brake power. Once car is stop, don't remove your foot or reduce the power, instead, quickly "pump" the brake, from 20% to like 50%)
If you do it correctly, you should see the "HOLD" symbol on cluster.
Once you get the hand of it, you should be able to do that every time.

I would say one of the worst things about daily driving a Mercedes is this hold feature and the shifter because every time I'm in a rental car, I accidentally put on the wipers and expect the car to hold at a stop light when I brake pump. 😂

Love the feature and miss it in our other vehicles. Once you get it, it's an after thought. Matter of fact, as soon as you make it an afterthought the easier it will be. Come to stop, extra LITTLE pump while removing your foot from pedal, done. Like MB implementation of this better than all other makes.
