2024 580 GLE
TIRE QUESTION--NEED ALL SEASON TIRES..........
Iam thinking about ordering a new 2024 580 GLE with the 22" BLACK WHEELS. The black wheels only come with summer performance tires unfortunately. Since I live in Omaha, Nebraska where we get lots of bad weather including snow and ice I need to figure out who makes a really good long lasting "ALL SEASON TIRE" for this suv. The fronts are : 285/40 R22 and the rears are: 325/35/R22. The fronts are on 10's and the rears are on 11's. Also am I making a mistake by going with the 580??? Just for the record, I can't get the Mercedes National Build site to work to build this SUV. Any suggestions??? THANK YOU. PS I truly wonder why Mercedes does not offer the black wheels which are very popular with ALL SEASON TIRES?????

You really only have one option for all season tires on the 22" rims. Pirelli Scorpion Zero A/S. I just installed them on my 2023 GLE63S and so far I'm very impressed.

You have to wonder why manufacturers sell cars equipped with tires that are only safe to use for part of the year. I bet the salesman won't tell you not to drive the car when the temp drops below 45°. I wouldn't want to be limited to one brand of tire. When you need a replacement, they may very well be on back order or unavailable. My 2018 GLE 550 had no spare and came with run flat 20" tires. There was only one tire made as a run flat that would fit the car. Replacement run flat tires in that size are currently unavailable. I would forgo the black wheels and go with the 21" tires. Lots of all season options and much lower prices.

Yes, Iam having an "IMPOSSIBLE TIME" finding an ALL SEASON TIRE in the sizes I listed in my original post. I was just at a local well known tire store here in Omaha, Nebraska where I live and the Manager told me he checked his National Data Base and no such animal exists. Thats WHY I can't find it. It looks to me that Iam going to have to go with their 21" black accents wheels. As they come with ALL SEASON TIRES. I'm not overly crazy about them but there really is no other choice unless I want to go down to the 20" tires and wheels. Life can certainly be difficult and even frustrating at times can't it.

We have a 580 w/ 22in summer tires and purchased a set of 20 inch take offs for winter to pair up with Hankook iPike. The overall cost to have a dedicated set while keeping the 22s for three seasons wasn't too bad. Not sure if that is an option you would consider. If you do opt to look for a second set of wheels, note that previous gen GLE/ML does not fit the current gen.

I have the exact same as factory spec. 285/40/22 on the front and 325/35/22 on the rear. I've heard they are difficult to find in the US but here in Canada my tire guy ordered them and they were delivered within a few days. They were installed in mid October.

im trying to buy some for my ‘23 53 but they are back ordered everywhere. Are they quieter than the summer tires that came from the factory?

People are switching to AS for the cold weather issues with the factory performance tires. As temps drop they lose traction and are subject to tread compound cracking that requires a tire replacement. Doubt that they will be much quieter.

Yep, I didn’t look down far enough to see that. In the past I’ve called Tire Rack to get an update. On wheels last year they called the Manufacturer and found out they had already shipped. The other thing is to find out if there are sold orders already in the system or if they are being discontinued.

I just had the full set installed a few weeks ago. My tire guy ordered them and they were delivered within a few days. They are available here in Canada, if you want a set of rears, DM me and I can provide my guy's info. I'm sure they can ship to the US.

@ChuckXX I sold my GLE53 that was also on your spec of 285/40/22 fronts and 325/35/22 rears. I was using Nitto NT420V All Seasons for the past few years with good luck. I have a set that I just put on prior to selling with only 4k miles on them that I am trying to find a new home for. All 4 corners are sitting at 9/32nds. Located in MA on the South Shore but would ship. I tried posting in the classifieds but just joined so don't have that access just yet!

Hi Chris. Which tires were on your GLE before installing the Pirelli's? I'm looking at going from the Michelin PS4S' to the Scorpion Zero's. I'm wondering how drastic the road noise, ride, and handling differences might be between them.
The Michelin's are great for fun driving even on the 580, but those 22's are a little harsh, and man they wear out fast!
