Seat Covers

Hello all,

My parents recently got a 2023 GLE350 with the beige interior. (I'm sorry I don't know what the actual color is called). Anyways, being that they are Asian and older, they have taken measures to protect their seats and armrest by covering them with white towels....

I know....

They insist on keeping them covered, so now I want to see if I can find them some nicer seat covers because it's just embarassing. Has anyone found any good ones for these vehicles?

Do they cover them to keep them clean? I use a leather cleaner and conditioner that I received with a BMW I purchased a few years ago. It works great. I wouldn't want to cover them up. Reminds me of the 1960's when people used to cover their car seats with plastic.

Yes it's to keep them clean and from discoloring from their clothing, which has happened to them before on their previous 2016 C300. They do not have the time to do a basic carwash or detail themselves and neither do I, so any type of cleaning that they would have to do themselves is probably out of the question. They will take the car to the dealership (any local dealerships under the Sewell name) since it offers free carwashes for anyone who buys their car from there. My dad might take some time to clean the seats with leather cleaner and conditioner, but it still won't prevent them from covering up the seat to keep it protected.

. Mercedes has a huge market in China so your parents aren't the only Asians covering up their seats for protection from dirt and wear in their new Mercedes.

I can understand. But for me, if I am going to cover up the seats and not enjoy their beauty, then I might as well leave them uncovered and let them get dirty. Hopefully, I will get around to cleaing them every few months - IMO.

I like these, but they look like complete replacement covers?

Agreed. I like how they look uncovered. Texted my dad yesterday to try and just clean the seats once a month or something. We will see if he actually does. I was looking at old threads and someone actually mentioned using huggies wipes to keep their seats clean. It would take off any coloring transfer.

Good to know; I'll have to try it. Typically, I only get color transfer when I wear blue jeans.

Lol just watched it. Thanks for that! I noticed that it was for a GLS (X167) though. Is it the same for the GLE (V167)?

Found this one for the V167

Dealer told us to use Colourlock on a GLE we had with the Macchiatto interior. It worked. Eventually the wife decided she preferred a dark interior as it was so bright. Traded up to a 63 with the nappa diamond in black so now no more worries.

You may want to consult this previous thread for ideas:

Ref the color transfer from new jeans and other denim clothing, wash the new or newish clothing twice in the washer using your regular detergent plus a half-gallon of white vinegar. The clothing will still look new but apparently the vinegar " locks in" the dye and it will not transfer to light colored seat material, either MBTEX or leather.

I totally get wanting to protect those beautiful beige seats in the new GLE350. While white towels do the job, they’re not the most stylish option. I’d recommend getting some custom seat covers. Wetokole has high-quality options that will fit perfectly and look much better. They come in various colors, so you can match or complement the interior.
