Suddenly the navigation system does not work. My subscription is up-to-date. I tried to update the system manually but that did not work to fix the issue. Any ideas on why this happened or how to fix it without paying the dealership $700? Error message

Yes, the warranty expired last year. It reads, "The map data doesn't match your system. Please insert a meeting medium containing the corresponding map data."
I also did the reset thing and that didn't work.

try download the latest map to a USB and run update
you might have the hard drive in the unit going bad also

Hard reboot: Press and hold the Power button on computer to physically turn off the power of the system. After about 10 seconds, you can then turn on the computer. This is an initial boot of the computer.
restart would be leave the base run and just restart the upper software part

I've had this issue intermittently. Seems like a glitch during the boot process. Allowing the vehicle a few restarts (I won't mention reset, restart, or reboot ) seemed to address it for me.

Where exactly is the "Power" button for Nav system? Is it near CTRL ALT DEL ?
Perhaps informing the OP how they can "REBOOT" their Nav would be more helpful then debating the defenitions Reboot and Restart. NOW, YOU LEARNED SOMETHING TODAY!!!!
