Last night I drove 2.5h, iPhone 15 Pro Max with Music and Google Maps running via wireless CarPlay on the wireless charger went from 60% to 80% and phone was really warm. Plugging it in instead to USBC would be better overall.

With Bluetooth and now wireless CarPlay, the charger barely puts a dent.
At least it maintained the charge...

Cayenne.

considered both while shopping for my in laws. GLE drives like a truck , Cayenne drives like a car.

Drove my uncles GLE580 yesterday after driving in laws cayenne right before it again and still the comparison in my mind.

Cayenne got some nice upgrades in 24 and I love it. Wife is looking to replace her GLC with a cayenne S , available with a v8 this year too.

Cayenne!

S is my preferred flavor. Best combination of performance, price and operating cost. 2024 and later 9Y0.2 refresh brought the V8 back to the S trim, with a small power bump and a big price bump.

2023 CPO Cayenne is the best value at the moment. Many, myself included, hold the view that VAG seriously cheapened the interior on .2. This means 2023 and earlier models have the most luxurious interiors of the current-platform Cayenne.

That's not been my experience but it depends on the model and options. My AMG 53 & 63 pretty much drove and handled like my Cayenne GTS. Acceleration is different on each model. Mercedes tends to have a more linear throttle. There are performance options on both that make a difference. There are lots of other differences. The GLE 580 is a family hauler with a mild V8. The AMG line is sportier. more like a Porsche. Neither feel like a truck or a Car IMO.

IMO the Cayenne S move to their leftover V8, from the superior and more powerful 2.9L V6 was a mistake.

Now you have to buy a Macan T to get that engine. But you lose the utility.

I don't like the Cayenne seats, or their touch everything.

Aside from those features, now that the ARC isn't available in the GLE, I'd take a Cayenne with PDCC and rear steer for handling and ride. But not for 20 grand more.

I'd look for a CPO with the above but with the 2.9L V6.

If you want a Porsche. Then get a Porsche! 911 or 718 variants. If you want a SUV then get the GLE.

The options and the V8 make a big difference in either model for my taste. It really gets down to individual preference and how much you want to spend on either. Mercedes offers more budget friendly prices but not at the same quality as Porsche. The Porsche Cayenne is far more cofigureable than the GLE with some options overpriced. The Porsche Cayenne is built in Germany and it shows...
The GLE is better looking, roomier, has solid tech and decent performance for each engine class. My 2024 GLE seats are OK but nothing like the 14 way Club Leather in my Porsche. Lear didn't make the seats in my 2024...below average quality again. Bolsters are similar in both, about right. My 53 seats were worse quality. My GLE 63 (like my others) does not use oil like Porsche. The Porsche V8 varies at about 3-4 k per quart. The 2024 MBUX is less configurable than before but solid performance if you can ignore all of the start up notices and crappy menu structure. Porsche has better Tech with less drill down and a better presentation of useful info.
My 2024, with the new AMG transmission, (built in ISG) is jerky and the vehicle jumps when the engine cycles on/off.
All of the above listed vehicles spent too much time in the shop. My 24 is headed there soon. The only plus was the opportunity to drive different trim levels and models of each brand.
Update:
My GLE 63S developed a couple of more issues before getting to the Dealer. Check engine light came on twice but was gone after cycling ignition. A subtle noise in the suspension became much more severe. Did a "ride along"with the shop forman...that I know all too well from Warranty visits. He said he couldn't fix the jumpy Start Stop Brake Hold function. "Some GLE's are worse than others". In other words, Mercedes isn't going to replace the expensive transmission with the integrated ISG and he confirmed that there are no software updates for a fix. I went straight to my SA & General Manager...worked out a favorable trade of my low mileage 63S with an early build allocation for a 2025 Cayenne GTS.
Mercedes quality doesn't get much better with a $140k vehicle built in Vance Alabama. I'm pretty picky about quality and notice things that others might not...or at least sooner before they become more severe. The USA GLE seat quality remains below average. Mercedes sticks with this firm and I can't help but wonder if Mercedes was forced to take an ownership interest when Johnson Controls decided to sell or shut down their subsidiary (Adient) located near the Vance facility. Lear Corp was building the higher end seats until about 2023...those were much better quality. After finding flaws in my 2024 63S I looked for a manufacturer tag before Dealer PDI. No Lear tag (normally found in the past) and no visible indication of supplier, maybe under the seats. My guess is that Adient is building and F'ing up all GLE seats now...not just the entry level ones.
Edit: Oil consumption update 63S. I thought that my 63S V8 wasn't using oil after break in. I found that my oil gauge appears to move in 1/2 quart increments. At 2800 miles it was down 1 Quart.

Your comments and experiences make me think I might have found The Sweet Spot with my 2021, Napa diamond-stitched seats and ARC.

My warranty ends next March, I've been visiting showrooms again, and I think I might do a complete polish and keep my car for a lot longer. I still have a whiff of new leather when I get in the car.

PLUS, I've figured out half of the menus.

I might have read that Mercedes will offer upgraded leather seats in the GLE for 2025. Part of a package for about $10k. I wonder if the same people are putting them together!😂

Looks like Porsche is coming out with a better version of Mercedes 48v mild hybrid by using a 400v hybrid system co-developed with Rimac:
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...e-911-preview/
"Said to be co-developed with Rimac (in which Porsche holds a 45 percent interest), the hybrid system incorporates a 400-volt electrical system, an integrated starter-generator, an electric motor that propels the front wheels (and can produce around 80 to 90 horsepower), and an approximately 2.0-kWh battery that’s replenished by either the gas engine or regenerative braking. In all, the electric-propulsion components of the powertrain reportedly weigh under 60 pounds."

Video explanation of this T-HEV here:

I'm sure we'll see this engine in the Cayenne in the future along with Porsche's version of E-ABC, known as Porsche Active Ride which is coming to the Taycan and Panamera:
