GLE Second Facelift

It's no surprise, of course, but at least we know they aren't dragging their feet. More photos at the link.

not surprised, kind of like how the Macan went through a second facelift as well.

They must be planning on keeping this body style for more than the normal 7 years.

Part of your link is missing. Here's the full link of the artist's speculated renderings:

This is just someone’s rendering using the grill and tail lights from an E class. I don’t see Mercedes keeping the same body for 14 years and only changing the front end and tail lights.

That I understand, the second picture is clearly not original, the grille is camouflaged but the outline of it looks identical to the modified second image. Including the piano gloss part.

IMO the GLE is the best looking SUV on the market now.
I wouldn't mind another facelift, if they maintain the lines.

But sometimes they they go down the butt ugly road, which must be tempting to some Apprentice. Think 166 GLE Coupe.

MB’s
Interesting ! MB has done this before. The W212 E Class from 2010-2016. The R230 from 2003-2012 just as a few examples.

It might not be 14 years, but it will be longer than normal. Remember, the ICE GLE wasn't supposed to be around past 2030, and was likely planned to be discontinued sooner than that. Like most automakers, MB way overestimated demand for EV's. Making matters worse, Mercedes EV designs have not been well-received. Buyers simply don't see the EQE SUV as a direct substitute for the GLE.

Indeed it isn't a direct substitute for the GLE, even if MB markets it that way, we all know they planned to fully electrify their models for the S-Class EV instead of EQS and the true GLE EV is therefore without the EQ name, given the change of plans and automotive shift lately, that might no longer be true.

The other threads were talking about MB's quality and another thread (or two?) was talking about how the EQ.. specifically EQS was depreciating way more than other EVs, maybe it is the design, maybe it is the features of the vehicle, maybe is the build quality. It could be anything. Is it a bad vehicle? Maybe. Are there good things about it? Maybe as well.

Agree 100%. When I traded in my GLE450, I briefly considered the EQE but that lasted about 30 seconds. Its not the best looking SUV in my opinion and it's also much smaller than the GLE. The switch to the 63 was a natural progression. No EV in the immediate future for me !

I swore I was going to go EV back in 2021 when I thought my new E63s would be my last ICE car.

But I cancelled my Rivian R1S pre-order a few months ago (pre-price hike price would have been $81k) and just bought a new GLE63s instead.

Basically I needed a reliable car (Rivian isn't) with 400mi real world highway range in cold weather to do regular work travel trips.

Having owned five MDXs before my GLS, my first impression was the similarity to the Acura diamond grill.

Precisely this, I doubt Mercedes wants to invest in a new ICE platform, so they'll probably just keep the current ones until they absolutely have to replace them.

I would expect this facelift to be for the 2027 model year, maybe even 2028, so the GLE53 plug in will come for 2026, only be for a year or two with the current body style, and then go to the next facelift.

A new dashboard/center console would be nice, but I hope they don't change the door panels much.

The GLE AMG 53 Plug in hybrid has been on sale in Europe for several months.

Correct. It's not coming to North America until the 2026 model year.
