Chrome rear bumper sill guard for GLE

Just received my genuine MB Chrome rear bumper sill guard for my 2024 GLE 53. That is the one finishing touch I had been looking for and it finally became available. Before and after pics attached. Is simple install. Just peel off sticky tape liner, line it up and press it down. Has an edge lip that wraps around the edge of the bumper. It is made of solid, not flimsy metal, and is super high quality. I had previously tried a cheap knock off that lacked the shine and was very flimsy -- a nonstarter.

Looks great. I would like to do the same. How did you line it up so that it would be placed correctly.

Lining it up is easy, but first practice lining it up before removing the red tape liner off the back of the chrome sill guard.
1) Make sure the bumper is cleaned thoroughly to remove dirt and grime. Make sure it is dry. I used Windex.
2) Mark the center of the bumper with a thin piece of blue painter's tape. The tape line should be in line with the Mercedes logo.
3) The chrome sill guard has 17 ridges as you can see in my picture. Just line up the 9th line ridge with the tape from step 2 to laterally center the chrome sill guard. There will then be 8 ridges on each side of the center ridge.
4) The chrome sill guard has a lip that you will fit snugly and flush against the end of the bumper. This assures the medial line up.
5) After a practice run, pull the red tape liner off the back of the chrome sill bumper. Line up the bumper as above starting with snug fit with lip and press down across the piece for a minute.
And that's it.

It is very easy, but take your time.

Thanks! The chrome sill bumber guard completes the "face" of the rear with a "smiling mouth."
Rear 2 Lights are the "eyes."
License plate is the "nose."
Bumper guard is the "smiling mouth."
...or something like that. Chuckle

Pretty cool.
I have clear PPF on my entire rear bumper. Cant tell anything is there. But this adds another aesthetic to it.
Thanks for sharing.

Is anyone aware if Mercedes ever came out with a black version of this? I know there's a 3rd party black one but I'd prefer an OEM version that I don't have to paint or get wrapped.

Thank you very much. I’m going to mount mine myself, as the dealer charges well over $100.00 to do it. Thanks again.

Plasti-dip would be easy and forgiving.

Is Plasti-Dip scuff resistant? The bumper sill guard is meant to prevent scratches to bumper when sliding heavy stuff into the trunk.

I don't know, but here's a pic of the numbers on the back I had taken.
