I* in purple box - 2020 GLE 580

I just purchased a CPO 2020 GLE 580 with 26K miles on it and am absolutely loving it. We moved from a 2021 GLE 450 with the Pinnacle Package that an underinsured driver decided to total for us. We had looked everywhere for a used GLE 450 with the same features as our totaled one and could not find one anywhere but I found this gem! Holy crap this car is awesome. The power is so linear and smooth. I think we have almost everything figured out on this vehicle as it is very similar to our 2021 GLE 450, but I don't remember the I* symbol in the purple box and I can't seem to locate it anywhere in the manual and Google, ChatGPT and searching these forums have been no help- quite possibly because I don't know how to use them properly?
Is this some sort of customized setting like the M button in my BMW M3?

That is individual drive mode.

Not quite. You have a few drive modes. Sport mode is everything as sporty as possible. Individual mode can be customized, for example you can have the suspension stiffen but leave everything else (steering, throttle response) in comfort mode.

You're welcome. Sorry about that, I am not that familiar with bmws, the other forum member might had answered your question correctly.

On my 2013 M3 the M button is customizable - suspension, throttle response, Steering feel, Dynamic Stability Control, DCT transmission shift response are instantly applied to the settings I configured when I push the "M" button. So the Individual mode seems to be somewhat equivalent.

Oh, okay, sorry. I don't have much experience with BMW and was confused. Then you're right, it does seem to be an equivalent.

I'm surprised the car starts in individual mode. My '22 in Europe always resets to comfort.

The Individual mode in MB/AMGs is exactly like the M button in BMW M models, except BMW M models have two customizable modes, M1 and M2. To somewhat make up for that, AMGs have customizable controls on the steering wheel to directly control things like the suspension etc. via two programmable buttons on the left lower part of the steering wheel. Then the knob on the right lower part can be turned to select one of the predefined drive modes such as Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Race and in addition, similar to the M button, it can be pressed to activate the customized individual mode directly. In some models, the right knob is also used to adjust the 9-stage traction control, or the recuperation in the E Performance models.
