Issues with hid install

so I sent out to install the hid kit I got from azn optics and I've hit a road block with the bulbs and holders. The first picture is how the stock bulb holder fits the stock bulbs the next two pictures are how the stock holder fits the morimoto xb bulb I'm thinking I need the round adaptors?

If you use the stick holders you have to modify them. Just order a pair H7 bulb holders from AZN.

Stick Holders??? Don't know what you're talking about. I actually emailed AZN and asked this same question and sent the pics to them posted above. They said that is the 3rd type of OEM holders they have seen. They told me to try to order some holders with the round hole from ebay or amazon. I have an order placed for the holders with the round hole from amazon.

On a different note, I was also sent a HD Relay harness along with my Hylux 35w ballasts. Now I'm told that the Hylux harness has the canbus harness built in and that I don't "Need" to use the HD relay but I will probably see better longevity if I do use the relay harness. Now that HD relay harness is suppose to hook up to the battery, only problem is that the battery is under the back seat in the GLE350 so I don't know how to o that exactly. Has anyone also used the HD relay harness? If so how an where did you install everything?

Sorry, I meant STOCK holders. Do not modify the stock holders because if you ruin them you have to buy an entire light housing. Order the square adapters and you'll be all set. No need to use the harness.

Ok, my stock holders are square, and the HID bulb is round, Round peg + square hole = No good! Are the aftermarket square holders different or something that allows the round bulb to go thru them? I ordered some with a round hole in the middle so the bulb should go thru them just fine. Correct me if I'm wrong but these holders don't do much for locating the bulb in the center of the housing, do they? I would imagine that the Round metal part that protrudes into the reflector is actually what centers the bulb in there, correct?

Yes. I ordered the square holders and they worked well. Some morimotto bulbs don't fit in the circular holders. You need to ask for the bulbs that fit. The newer bulbs fit. There was some discussion regarding this issue in this thread.

How am I suppose to know what spade connector to plug into what side of the stock H7 bulb harness? The two wires going to the plug are both black. The only difference I see is that one side the wire is slightly thicker looking. I have a black and orange wire with spade connectors, I plugged the orange into the thicker side and the bulb lights up, I don't know if would ignite if it was backwards.

if it works, it's the correct orientation, you just have to try and see. it wont blow up, but when you see it doesn't work just turn the car off right away and swap the connectors, try again and it should work. I had mine backwards multiple times, no issues.

Well I got them installed and my wife loves them! I hooked up the red/orange spade to the thicker of the two black wires coming off the Factory bulb plug and they both worked that way so I just went with that. I did not try swapping them around to test the other direction. Install was pretty easy. I mounted the ballasts up under the fender liner to a portion of the metal body. There was actually a hole right there threaded to M6 so I used some Velcro and a M6 stainless button cap screw to secure them. The other two boxes on the canbus harness were attached to the same area using extreme hold Velcro rated at 15lbs holding strength so that should be more then enough to hold them in place. The ground wires where attached to the little ground posts just inside the fenders under the hood.

The beam seems pretty decent though there is a bit of dead spot from each that shoots off and down to the left a bit. I suspect that is where the little white rod from the bulb is placed inside the reflectors. I ordered new bulb holders from amazon with a round hole and they fit the bulbs perfectly. Like I suspected the housing of the projector centers the bulb more then the actual clips do. Cut off seems good and the lights are nice and bright. I might play around with slightly moving the bulbs to see if I can get rid of the dead spots at all but I don't know if they are going to get any better.

I do not recommend this at all and it has a lot of potential danger, but I had to put on some oven mits/winter gloves(Dexterity) and slowly twist the bulb while they were on until I got them even and without any dead spots. My drivers side required a 1mm twist and the deadspot was gone

Hi guys

I had a shop install this for me and I am getting a couple flicks and errors when starting up. Do you have any place I should look first?

EDIT: I have the morimotto kit and HYLUX canbus

if it’s only on one side switch the anti flicker capacitors and see if the flicker follows. Just like checking for failing ignition coils. If the flicker stays its most likely the ballast. The bulbs usually just die when they are bad. The flicker comes from the other 2 parts of the kit. The opt 7 anti flicker capacitors I attached in my earlier post work great and are so cheap.

Went outside to check out how the shop wired on my car and made this diagram of what I saw. Is this correct? (excuse the poor engineering diagram)

The two pin-ish connector goes into a black cube thing that is part of the Ballast. Then the otherside of the ballast with the "error canceler" is connected to the relay harness, on the wire that has a label for Ballast.
The relay harness has a connector that goes to the OEM power plug (orange plug coming from the headlight), one to go to the negative terminal (which is wired to the thing under the gold jump terminal...is that the negative?) and one that goes to ground (grounded in the fuse box ground).

Is this how it is supposed to be wired?

The flickering is only when it first starts up. The first time it turns on from cold it will turn on and off 3-4 times, then be steady. error message comes up for Check left low beam, check right low beam. (no flickering once in normal operation)

I've noticed however that once I have the lights going for a minute and I turn them off and then right back on again, the flickering/error does not happen.

Thank you all for the help!

Could this be the culprit? I thought the battery connector was the gold thing, and the one that the "battery" cable is connected to is the ground

looks like it might be the problem. The ground is below that gold post that is plugged into the inner fender. The battery connect is 3” towards the firewall under the plastic lid with the plus sign in it. Please post all of your finding to help others in the further. Also, to anyone else reading this post if you have found an LED setup that works well, please post with pics. I can’t find an LED that will fit with the adapters to hold it in place.

I installed the low beam kit from AZN Optics finally. Michael was very helpful, exchanged a ton of email on a friday evening, but success finally. I think the focusing is a bit off, and I may need to figure out how to adjust the headlights, seem aimed low. I accidentally touched both bulbs and am afraid I may have gotten skin oils onto the bulbs. Here are there results. Roads were wet due to snow, so lighting is not as bright as on a dry day. How far off am I from ideal state?

Now I have the Low's fixed any solution for the Highs? HIDs for High Beam are not recommended I read, any suggestions for improving stock halogens for the high beams? Osram seems popular..

Unless you're using the high beams often, don't worry about it. I've driven through middle of now where michigan with my regular HIDs and could see farther than with my high beams. I would check in this thread for the way to level them, that is key! I had mercedes do it during my last service just to double check what I had done and they only moved the right headlight laterally. When in traffic my HIDs hit just below other SUV back windows, cars are a different story but that's just the nature of SUVs.

I purchased the HID conversion kit from AZN and I'm having difficulty figuring out how to get the H7 adapter plate behind the bulb. It appears the bulb has a spot of glue holding it to the connector so I cant remove the connector. The H7 adapter plate hole is to small to allow the large canbus plug through it...I'm stumped...any suggestions?
Here is a link to a video showing my problem.

Thanks !
