Jaguar F-PACE

Your thoughts on the F-Pace? I'm considering a GLE, F-Pace, Cayenne, or Macan.

The Macan is too small. Cayenne has bad blind spots, too complicated in options when trying to decide what to get or add, and is over priced. I don't trust Jaguar quality but their cars (British cars including Aston Martin) look amazing but have had quality issues over all. Yes Mercedes has its quirks too but it is a much better car.
Please be advised that this is just my 2 cent opinion.

F pace is a head turner and easily one of best looking suv's right now and very few on the road

I would consider f pace ... jag has come a long way

As long as a Tahoe, but 3 inches narrower and 7 inches less in height. Can be had with many of the MB features for a lot less. Golf bag goes straight in. 360 hp Hemi. A reasonably usable 3rd row. A water pump and a wonky blower motor were the only faults in 4 years and 45k miles. That said, we love our recently-purchased '14 ML3502W CPO. Ride is superb (we like soft).

I had a '13 Durango R/T before my GLE Coupe. Durango is hands down the worst car I have ever owned. Had more problems with that car than any other car I have ever owned. Looked great in Black with the Blackout package, but a piece of junk.

I don't doubt you one bit. You see it here too with the problems people have with high end cars. Luck of the draw I suppose.....

I agree that the F pace is a head turner, but I think the interior is not as nice as the other vehicles on your list. The Cayenne and the Macan are both great, but the Cayenne is due for a major refresh in another year if that matters to you.

Yes, Cayenne is due for a change but so is the GLE which is still using the old platform which is dated back to 2012. I like to have a newer model. I also agree that the Jag's interior is not the best. However, you get a lot for the money- great looks, panoramic roof is standard and a lot of horsepower.

I checked out the Maserati last week and wasn't too impress. Ugly wheels, expensive, and not impress with the exterior looks.

I'm having a couple of issues with my GLE coupe now, but I have a long way to go before catching up with the Dodge. In no particular order- all four brake rotors were warped after 75 miles (replaced), Windshield wipers were not seated properly and popped off during a rainstorm (i had to pull over on highway and find them), engine was not bolted properly and came off of engine mount bolts, linings in wheel wells were not seated properly and came apart, factory installed tow hitch electronics wouldn't work properly, navigation system had to be replaced because it would intermittently reset (usually when I was using it to get somewhere), Transmission had to be repaired twice because it wouldn't shift from drive into neutral properly, oil pan gaskets had to be replaced twice due to warped oil pan (ultimately replaced oil pan assembly), compression spring that held front brake calipers in place popped off repeatedly (dealer glued into place as a fix) as well as 14 recalls in 3 years of ownership. When my lease was up and I returned the car with 14,300 miles on it, I laughed when the dealership tried to get me into a new Durango.

I guess that's what I get for leasing a car that was built during bankruptcy proceedings.

They are expensive, but dealers here in NJ are discounting them pretty heavily. Exterior looks a little Infiniti-ish, but the larger wheels look great in my opinion. I priced one nicely equipped in the upper 80's, not too far off a full equipped GLE coupe. But it is a Fiat with a Ferrari engine...

BLAM; I had exactly the same list when I went out to dealers for test drives.
Was certain I was getting an F-Pace but the interior was much more basic Ford than any luxury, and it's small. Same with the Macan, better finishes inside but smaller than I wanted.
Most disappointing was the Cayenne. Test drove a Platinum, was so under powered (wife's diesel has better pull!). If you test a Cayenne start with the S (twin turbo) and go up from there. I ended up getting the GLE43 Coupe which was an easy winner for me. Perfect mix of luxury, tech and performance. Get a test drive, turn the dial to Sport+. I've been grinning ever since :-)

Rear tail light LED isn't working and the collision avoidance sensor keeps going out and I get an error message. Some rattling around the center console where my knee rests. And I scratched up the rims taking a turn too tight, but that's my fault.

I actually love the f-pace and I was looking at all the same cars as you. Jag has come a long way and have the best warranty and included Maintanence program on the market right now. They are all in the top 5 cars of most reliable cars for the past couple of years. There resale is still ****ty though. I loved everything about the jag except for the size it competes inthe x3 and glc category. Same as the macan. I do agree from the above that Porsche just has too many options and categories. Plus the Maintanence on those cars is ridiculous. You get s lot for your money with the GLE.

Blam- are you buying or leasing? I thought about the F-Pace and I would lease one, but I would never buy one. Primarily because of resale value.

Here's the latest lease details for F-Pace

20d: .00002 MF and 50% residual
35t: .00007 MF and 49% residual

For comparison my lease on the 43 AMG was 0.00133 MF and 54% RV

Walk, no run away from the F pace. It looks like a Nissan Juke but probably built worse.

I am rethinking this and may go for a lightly used Cayenne GTS or Turbo. Should be some good deals once the new model comes out.

Looked at both F-pace & GLE extensively...

I just picked up a '17 GLE for my wife. She originally saw an F-pace in town so I started researching that first despite the fact I am an MB owner already. After driving & researching both, here are my takaways:

1. If money, reliability, space for family & cargo are not concerns then the F-pace may be for you.

2. F-pace is fun & fast and if you prefer a sports car feel but don't want to shell out big dough for AMG then Jag is a good option given caveat in #1 above.

3. My experience was that Jag dealers moved very little off MSRP.

4. The GLE fit & finish BLOWS away the F-pace hands down. Jag feels cheap inside.

5. Jag absolutely soaks you for options that should be basic... even worse than MB.

6. Jag does have a sweet maintenance package which is included. MB add $1475 and it is only for 4 years.

7. Safety- GLE big winner!

8. Bottom line... If you are a prudent, practical person with a family then go GLE.... If you are a thrill seeker & perhaps a little frivolous... then try the F-pace.... I guess that means I am old & dull... oh well.

Hope this helps to clarify your decision!
