Does the GLE SUV has launch control
Looking at different acceleration tests on youtube for the GLE 350d I see that the speed dial starts moving only once about 2000rpms are reached. How do they do this?

my gasser starts moving as soon as you release brake (unless uphill resistance). about 500-600 rpm. don't know the diesels. only reason i think would be slipping torq-converter or manual clutch. (or shifting into gear at 2k rpm (may be a rental)). ron

Almost every vehicle with automatic transmission moves forward slowly when you release the brake. BMW-s, or most of them, have launch control. It's a special option of the car, that allows you to press the throttle with your right foot, in the same time the brake with your left foot, the rpm-s go to 2000 or 2500/ with the diesel engines/and stay there, the moment you release the brake, the car just jumps forward. No thinking, no time for the automatic transmission to react and the engine to overlap the turbo lag. On many videos it looks like they measure the 0-100 acceleration time in this way, otherwise you can never be closer than a second to the producer's specs. The question was how do they do it with GLE SUV?

Of course this is not the way anybody normally driving is gonna start no matter where. The point of the post was to understand if anybody knows how do they raise the rpm-s before the speedometer starts moving up, in the normal situation they move more or less paralel.

They hold the brakes with the left foot, push on the gas with the right foot, and release the brake.
