GLE400 BMS intake (c43 gle43)

I recently purchased a 2017 GLE400. This is my first forced induction vehicle and I wanted to hear a little more turbo spool and BOV. I emailed back and forth with BMS to check fitment and they were fast at responding and a great help. Installation was pretty fast and easy with normal hand tools. I did use my rotary tool to slot the openings on the heat shields. The factory heat sheild comes up to high on the firewall for it to fit like designed. The heat shields also required some persuasion to fit properly and still to their job. But any BFH and some scrap wood will easily do the job. I double layered the tubes and shields in gold heat tape. I'm in Houston, so not sure if it will make any difference when the ambient temps are triple digits, but hey it looks cool and the kids like it. I've had it on for a couple of weeks now and I couldn't be happier! It has done exactly what I wanted, a little more noise but not enough to be too fast and furious. Performance wise, I'd say maybe a little increase off the line...? It feels like it revs fast in the low end. No discernable difference in the top end. I am now thinking about a JB4 and I really would like to do something with the exhaust. Any suggestions?

i love the JB4 on my N55 BMW engine. on my GLE 43 I went with a Dinan Tune. it's only $250 and more than adequate for me.

Very nice. I also stay in Houston and have the same GLE400 too. Do you hear the spool a lot more now that you installed the intake? So far I only have done a piggy back tune and Weistec BOV. With that I think it sounds great especially if you came from turbo imports like I did. I love the woooooshing sound. lol. I think the only piggy back units for our cars are Dinan Sport, JB1 and JB4 and Racechip. I had Dinan and that was a decent little bump. Then I switched to Racechip Black and I couldn't be happier. I definetly feel a good bump in power and torque especially right off the line.

You hear a lot of the whooshing/hissing low in the rpm 1k-3k, not so much in the high end. BOV is much more noticeable in the high end of course when your making more boost. The BOV is still subtle and only audible if your within a pretty close radius, say 20-30ft. I've been looking at the weistec BOV's but I'm kinda afraid of how loud/obnoxious it will be. I'd like to hear it in person someday(only seen videos). I'm leaning hard towards the JB4 with the bluetooth adapter. Probably get it this summer at some point. Has anyone done an exhaust on the 400? I have a W211 E550 and I did the muffler delete and couldn't be happier. I'm very tempted to do the same on the GLE.

Not sure if you ever had a chance to mess with the exhaust but I molded my stock one. Swapped an X pipe where the resonator is and added a GLE63 amg muffler. To me it sounds fantastic! No drone and a smooth snarl when started and at WOT. I also got rid of my piggy back and got a stage one OE tune.
