Tapping noise on the steering wheel

Hello All, I need your help;

I drive a GLE450/ 2019 and when I press the brakes fully i feel a tapping sound on the steering wheel and the same tapping when I release the brakes

This happens when Im slowing down to park, or a full brake while driving, or while going over a road bump

It sounds like a small defect in the brake pad or rotor, possibly from a stone or pebble. Take the front wheels off and check. Or take the vehicle to a shop or the dealer have them check.

Not only I would check the brake pads also check the calipers. I would also see if any object stuck in the tire tread

Thank you for the advice, I have taken the car to the dealer and they told me that they have examined the break pads, calibers and the tires they’re all fine.

they still dont know what is causing this, do you have any other suggestions?

Sounds more like a loose steering column or something unrelated to brakes. Or perhaps a pedal bushing?
Can you find a stretch of road near the dealership, where you can 100% duplicate the sound/feel, so you can show the tech?

I took the tech on a test drive and showed him, they have compared it to other cars and confirmed that its not normal.

Then have them check suspension, ball joints, upper/lower control arm, CV Joint's, Axles, Bushing's trailing arms, Strut's, track rod ends, steering joints, etc. maybe wheel bearing Also have them check your mounts esp the transmission mount.

Thanks for the reply, after that, the problem never come back again?
I think this problem comes due to the vibration in the steering for line assist system

GLE 350
Interesting. I have a similar issue with my 2017 GLE 350. The noise happened only when turning a sharp left. The noise started sometime in 2020, but it would come and go randomly. The dealer spent weeks checking everything and couldn't find a thing. Even replaced several parts. After the 4th dealer visit I called MBUSA and they were zero help. I wasted too much time on this just learned to live with it. To my surprise the noise hasn't been back in 6 months. I am convinced the front end will fall off one of these days (insert front fell off joke here).
