Help needed in deciding 2019 vs 2020 GLE
Hello folks, I am kind of undecided between the two preowned GLE. I like V6 GLE but not a big fan of turbo-charged small engines. I am looking for reliability. Till now we do not have data for long-term turbocharged 4 cylinders GLE. I am leaning towards V6 as those engines are proven reliable. Any thoughts?
Thank you
Sid

Thanks, I went to MB dealer they also have 2018 which is priced at 38K with 48 K miles. And another one is also 2018 priced at 40 K with 36 K miles. 2019 is kind of out of range it is at 49 K. Black one they are preparing to bring to the showroom. Hopefully tomorrow I will go and test drive both. Any piece of advise will help

2018 and 2019 GLEs are outstanding. Possibly the most reliable MB in the past 10 years.
I have the 20” wheels as in the second photo. They look nice but the ride is harsher than 19” wheels and they are easy to rash. I also installed chrome hood trim, it’s required in my view. It wasn’t expensive.

This place is a joke.
2020+ GLE's are lemons. 2019 and earlier GLE's (except for the diesels-avoid!) are one of MB's most reliable vehicles. The 350 V6 is reliable, and the 400 turbo V6 has been good as well. The 550 V8 has some occasional problems, I prefer the 400 over the 550.

Base GLE 2020 and onward has a 2.0-liter turbo which produces around 255 hp. That is unexpected from MB. Even my Accord 9th gen V6 produces 280 HP and has lane change forward collision, keyless system. I noticed all-new automobile manufacturers are making smaller and smaller engines and most common are 1.5 to 2.0 and adding turbo on in. As most of the Buyers are not knowledgable about engines they buy because it has a turbo. Today I will go and test drive some GLE V6.

Search nationwide since prices can vary greatly by region. Get one as loaded as you can find and search ones that are MB CPO with low miles. Get the extension and do a search for the best deal. You do not have to buy that from the same dealership as you buy your car and all MB dealerships are obligated to honor.

The GLE 350 pictured is a non-turbo with 302 hp. I have a 2018 and had a 2015 ML350. Zero problems with either one. Then again, I had a 2017 GLE43 and no problems either. I like my 2018 so much I can't convince myself to buy a new one. I really hate the cheap plastic around the wheel wells.

I believe the GLE400 is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo. It's the same engine used in the GLE 43 AMG, C43 AMG, GLE 450, GL450, GLS 450

Update: I test drove both and finally made the decision to get the gray one ( pic above). Like ride quality but the infotainment system is very confusing especially GPS. Still learning but overall I love it. I got this at 40K dollars, it has 34000 miles on it.

It takes a while to adapt to NAV. You have to one command at a time. Android Auto works very well and responds to verbal commands. Good choice in cars. You won't be sorry.

blownv8, I checked 2018 in Chicagoland. 40 vehicles priced between $39K and $47K with the mileage of his SUV. Price increases are 10% per month right now. My old boss got a call from a large Ford dealer in NC and he offered him $3K more than he paid for his year-old Tahoe. The large dealer had seven new cars remaining on his lot and no new deliveries this week. sub786sub, be careful of the star you buy. Mine lasted one week. Installed two weeks ago. I bought it on eBay.

Folks, in almost every case, for example the illuminated star, it's best to buy MB OEM parts. Expensive yes, but they work. Best is to buy online, generally from a dealer with an online presence.
My local idiots (MB dealer) are 50% - 100% higher in parts prices than what I can order online. I do buy fluids from the local dealer because shipping fluids is either not offered, or expensive. This applies to axle and transfer case oils, and brake fluid. When I drain and refill the coolant at 100k miles, I plan to buy coolant from the dealer if an MB spec product is not available at Advance Auto, etc.
I have used: mercedesbenzstarparts.com and mbparts.mbusa.com successfully.

If you are happy, that's all that matters. I like fully loaded vehicles so I typically have to throw that net far and wide to find what I want at the price I want to pay.
Hear you on the prices, they are greatly inflated now but dealers will be left with some seriously overpriced inventory that will sit once new car manufacturers catch back up due to Covid and chip shortage. You can already see the prices falling on used cars. We hit the peak around a month or two ago. Now, if you look at the inventory, the higher priced dealers have cars sitting for long periods before there are any takers if at all. It's an example of price exceeding equilibrium price so they are not selling.

I'm not trying to cause trouble but I have access to Mannheim Auctions as my brother-in-law is a car dealer. There are 34 '18 GLE 350'S you can bid on in the USA through Mannheim. None of them with less than 40K miles have a starting bid less than $39K. I would say prices are still high and he got a good deal due to the current situation. If you know dealers personally, they will tell you they are NOT discounting vehicles and on new vehicles charging more than the list. One month ago, a good friend of mine tried to order a new AMG G-wagon. The list was $180K and the dealer wanted an additional $30K over the list. He told them no thanks and ordered a new Aston Martin SUV. I'll bet he's bought 10 new MB's from the dealer in the last five years so he isn't a tire-kicking Walmart shopper. So much for valued customers in this market.

Thank you BlownV8 for Maxpider 3d car mats. I will look into this. Yep I need mats.
Thank Bill Baird, you mentioned the led star lasted a week. Did the led burned or the chrome peeled off? I know I bought for Honda the chrome peeled off but it was after few months. But good to know. Maybe I will shop around for the genuine MB-led star.
