GLE 43 AMG Scraping noise when accelerating
Hello there,
I am new to MB and this forum. I am a DIY guy and come from Lexus/Toyota.
Car: 2018 GLE 43 AMG at 40K miles, Still in warranty until Oct 2022, then CPO kick in until Oct 2024 or 75K miles.
Issues: 1 Grinding/scraping noise from rear while accelerating from D4-D5-D6 from complete stop to up hill, bridge, or over pass
2 Engine tick louder than others in their own group. Much louder than my old Lexus ES330
3 Breaks feel kind of grap and let go, i.e. like ABS kick in too early for normal break
Did and Checked: Rear wheel for rock between rotor and dust guard, loose nuts/bolts, control arms, air suspension, and went under the car a few times. Found nothing unsuall.
I am trying to fix number 1 first, but MB dealer/tech said no fault found -- including engine, transmission, tranfer case, rear diff. I heard it twice when drove form MB dealer. It drives me nut. Any help or advice would be appriciated.
Background:
Hear the noise/sound intermittently since first week pick up/purchased from MB dealer in July 2021 as CPO. Now hear more offend and louder. Sometimes heard clunk – like gear hits gear that loose. The grinding/scraping noise only happened when hard accelerate (a bit hard, but don’t need to floor the gas paddle) from completely stop to uphill, bridge, or overpass. For example -- Stop at red light at bottom of a hill and accelerate a bit hard when light turns green, then heard the scraping noise while accelerating from D4-D5-D6. The scraping noise like shovel snow, and only heard like counting one-two. For sure, it is a rotational scraping noise metal to metal, but could not figure out where it came from.

- Brake noise sounds like heatshield or deflector rubbing somewhere.
- There's no way to accurately compare the engine noise, from one car to another let alone another brand.
- Brake grabbing does sound like a component issue.
Make a service appointment and have them call you when it's done under warranty work.
