W166 replacement brakes milages
Brake pad wear message is on. I did a complete front brakes over the weekend (12/7/2024) since the vehicle have 93,544 miles and the last time I did front complete brakes back on 8/15/2022 at 66,496 miles. After I did the front brake I took it around the block. I notice the brake pad wear message came back on. I decided to check the rear brakes and behold no pad left the last time I change the rear brakes was on 12/27/2023 at 83,200 miles. I just order a complete rear brakes yesterday but I'm stumped because the rear only have 10,344miles on them. I only order OEM parts (pads, rotors, sensor). I never heard of the rear brakes need replacement this early.

Pretty common. It's usually the inside pad that wears very quickly and I think that's due to cars with Lane Keep Assist as it bumps the rear brakes to keep the car in the lane. Using Ceramic pads helps with wear and dust but also affects the initial bite.

My OEM rear brakes lasted 50 K miles and my OEM fronts lasted 80 K miles… for comparison sake…thought you’d like to know. I have lane assist as well.

Thanks for the verification. I guess once I do the rear brakes next week (waiting on parts). I'm going to monitor it to see what is going on. When I did the front I still have plenty of life left on the pads. I was already in there so I just replace them.

My lane assist is turned off from the menu after I bought my GLE. It took me by surprised when I left the dealer and I hated it, lol.

It was the outer pads that have hardly any material left (I used a flashlight through the wheel). I could not check the inner pads since I already took it off the 2 post lift. I did not feel like putting back on the lift that day.

Parts are delay. Hopefully I can get access to my friend shop next weekend to do the rear brakes. Maybe if I'm up for it I do the driver side engine mount while I'm at it.

Both rear inner and outer pad were done. I notice allot of build up on the rear passenger side. Had to take a mallet to the rotors to break it through. Allot of brake dust on dust shield and on the hub. I cleaned it with a wire brush.
(2) things of might happen here. Brake pads were defective or the shop ex-coworker that did my rear brakes (he got fired last month). Never replace the rear pads and left the old pads in there.
Brakes feel good still need to break them in. Also did both rear tires and wheel alignment as well.

I got 70k miles from factory rear pads and rotors. Possibly 100k on the fronts. I don’t remember changing the fronts. I sold the car with 100k miles. 50/50 mix of local and highway driving.

This is the only issue I have with brakes only on my GLE. My CLK500 (OEM CLK55 AMG OEM Front/rear brakes) and E55 AMG never have any issue like this.

I replaced all 4 corners with Powerstop slotted and drilled rotors and CC pads... hardly any wear and little dust in 20k miles... they also look great on thy 43

Fuel consumption is normal. This morning (3:30am) there were squealing really loud. It did not trigger the brake sensor.

Brake pads don't wear while sitting in a box on a shelf or when mounted in a caliper and not rubbing against the rotor. There must be some explanation for such accelerated wear. Is very aggressive braking taking place? Or much stop-and-go driving in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic?
