Hitch Height

Huge favor to ask... Can someone with a stock ride height GLE63S (2018 class) check the height of the trailer hitch from the ground? I'm on a trip away from my car for a week, and need to pick up the boat as soon as I get home, so I want to have the hitch waiting for me, otherwise I'd just measure myself. I just bought a boat and will be towing it with my 2018, and since this is the first time I'll be setting up a vehicle for towing, I'm getting a little obsessive over making sure the trailer is level. I know a couple inches of height difference barely changes the degree rise over the length of a single axle trailer, but I'd rather be closer than not.

FWIW, it's a small boat (flats skiff - 18' and <1,500 loaded), so not worried about trailering capacity.

Thanks very much! Looks like I'll need a 1-inch rise, which seems about impossible to find of course, especially with the 7.5" maximum from receiver pin to ball...

just turn your 1” drop upside down.

if you need an extension, I got mine from Wilco offroad. https://wilcooffroad.com/shop/wobble...tch-extension/

The trouble I was having was more the 7.5" shaft length. The 2 inch drops turned upside down tend to be 3/4" rise. I ended up getting one with a 8.25" shaft length - even though it's longer than it should be, since I'm towing a pretty light load, the impact on the receiver should be low enough to still fall well within capacity limits.

If you want the pin hole can be re- drilled to be less than the 7.5 inch requirement if you are still concerned.

That's important. The farther the ball is behind the 7.5" spec, the more leverage the load exerts on the hitch. It's geometry. If you double the distance you halve the capacities. You'll definitely feel it.

I was having the same trouble finding a 7.5" length when most drawbars are longer than that. Here's e-trailer's response to my question with a recommendation that is relevant to any model requiring these specs: https://www.etrailer.com/question-537457.html?fb=yes
