I recall seeing some posts in the forums for the affected models where they experienced a fuel pump failure. I wonder if these owners can retroactively force MB to pony up any money spent on these repairs. I would certainly try, unless it is noted in the official recall that Mb would retroactively compensate owners, which any good company would normally do.

So One Yes & One No

So I guess that means I won't be getting a recall notice for my 2021 GLE63S but I will for my 2018 GLE43.

This recall is a joke. It is to install a drain plug, so when water leaks into the rear of the car, it can drain out... It doesn's solve the problem of WHY the water is leaking into the interior and shorting ou the fuel pump.
Rather pathetic

Lol that is pathetic. It’s like drilling a new floor drain next to a leaky bathtub. Makes no sense. I can only assume the leakage is due to a design flaw and the brilliant brain trust felt it was cheaper to drill a hole then fix the issue lol.

You're right, the WHY is missing from the summary. Maybe the Dealer Procedure is more informative.
We don't know if it's from outside, or somebody spilled a jug of bleach.

I've had four of those models, @350,000 miles, and never saw a trace of moisture in the wheel well. I store things in there that I access regularly, so I'd notice.

I can't figure how anything could get in, unless from a clogged sunroof or vent drain.
If so, though the recall would be on the Culprit, you'd think.

Let's see if we can figure this out.
Some NHTSA recalls are pretty silly, like the misaligned trim recall. But not the un-recalled burning Fords or Tesla's.
I wonder if there's any substance to this one.

I haven't heard of such, but if that were the culprit, you'd think the recall would be on the "rear hatch seal."
If the intrusion point isn't identified and fixed, why would there be a recall?
I'm going in next week and I'll see if I can find out. Dunno why my 53 was left out, either.

So the recall must be based on some other water intrusion.
