Shorty Needs Running Boards?

Hi All,

I'm a new member to the site and a new owner of the 2023 GLE 53. Loving the drive, the interior, pretty much everything. Except getting in and out. I'm of a shorter stature (5'5") which I think is a perfectly acceptable girl height! I'm actually able to get in fine by maneuvering over the side bolsters, but getting out is another issue. I have to literally slide down the seat to get out of the vehicle to get my feet to touch the floor. Hence, my dilemma.I don't want to destroy the side of my seat. Being a problem solver, I thought running boards may be helpful to add but my salesman says I can't add them aftermarket. UGH. Is he a liar? Or anyone have any short girl tips? Thanks all!

They can be added. OEM boards have several components. I believe there are cheaper aftermarket OEM fitments as well.

Quick ebay search for SUV boards HERE

IMO I would only get the original parts from a Mercedes dealer. Go to your Mercedes dealer Parts section and order them and have the dealer install them. Ask your salesman if he can get them discounted. They may cost a little more over no name aftermarket but they should have a better warranty over aftermarket. My 2 Cents.

I second this and prefer OEM MB parts. Sounds like they are already taking you for a ride by saying it's not possible. I'd call various dealers for parts and labor pricing as each dealer sets their own.

I was in for service last week, and the parts department had a complete running board kit displayed on their wall.
Didn't ask what car it was for - definitely longer than a GLC.
So there must be availability, and maybe a push to sell them.

There's also 2 options for W167 GLE. Lighed and non lighted running boards.

I’m told again with the AMG, (different guy) that I’m out of luck. Thanks all for your comments.

It's just not true. Do you have the coupe or SUV? I'll try to find the part numbers

Coupe. He added that since there are so few coupes produced, that they don’t make a lot of extra parts. This was the parts guy this time, other time was my salesman. ☹️

They do make em. You may need the Vin number of one to get the part number. Maybe try looking for a coupe with one being sold online.
