w166 GLE63S m157 Spark plug replacement Stage 2
Is it recommended to step to a colder plug when going to stage 2? I have a fuel cut issue that comes around at high load partial throttle times. Looking to swap plugs first. Stock ok or should I go with the NGK one step colder option?

colder gapped at .022 and the issue still persists. Can’t get it to go away, I feel it’s in the ECU and when higher booost is detected under load it cuts the fuel for a split second almost as if it’s spark blowout. I am convinced, after going one step colder and playing with the gaps it is not spark blowout but rather the ECU cutting off fuel under higher boost. I can’t stand it. Do me a favor try Manual mode in 5th gear and see if it does it around 2500-2800 rpm’s. Report back and let me know. I have the fuel cutout really bad here. Who’s tune do you have?

Driving in traffic today, probably 25-35% throttle and it cut abruptly for no reason. Very weird. I gets my heart pumping every time it happens because it feels like the car just shut off or something.
So I did a few WOT runs to 115ish. No problem.

Never an issue with mine at WOT either.

fine to exactly 115 which is 5th gear and then it cuts fuel there as well for me. I have tried six different pulls WOT to 115 on different days and it happens every time. Try manual mode in 5th gear and see if it happens there. Mine cuts fuel always around 2500 to 3000 rpm’s. I tried plugs, regappimg and even a new tune file and to no avail.

Eurocharged.
No idea what the issue is, but it's kind of random. It's also pretty rare.
I'm going to run a blend to get to 96 octane and see what happens. Small sample size, but I added a little bit of 110 when I was at the track (driving another car, not this one) and no issues with that tank. Then again, it only happens once ever 3-4 tanks so who knows.

I haven't gotten any codes from it on my normal scan tool. I am new to merc, so I would love to see how everyone is logging these cars. Coming from 4.0t audi world it is just so much easier to find info on.

Hi guys,
was it like this? That is during WOT. I always tried to figure why this happened.

So to me it happens only ocasionally (maybe every 3rd or 4th run), mostly 4th or 5th gear and in 95% only during WOT. Speed 115-130MPH. I have changed plugs to Weistec one-step colder, dissapeared for some time, but then reappeared again. I have renntech stage 2 ecu tune/weistec tcu/downpipes/turbo-backs/3"exhaust/sport cats/blackboost cai. It started doing it about 2 years after the stage 2 tune, but it began right after I have installed turbo-backs - my guess is that it added quite a bit to already high power levels and basically it now here and there falls into overboost territory. I have no idea what to do with this issue.

Please clarify. Following along in the e63 thread.
Did it happen right after the turbo back or right after a plug change to weistec?

I was just changing out my plugs for the first time 2019 GLE63S Coupe, and have a set of NGK 97506 (SILZKBR8D8S) here ready to go in. All of my research says that these are the correct 1 step colder NGK plugs for the M157. However, these plugs seem to be 2-3mm longer than the OE Bosch plugs that I just pulled out (Z6SII3320R). Totally confused. I called FCP Euro and they said that they don’t fit even though they are listed on their website as fitting. NGK spark plug finder says no fitment whatsoever.
When I look up and compare both plug specs, reach is exactly the same at 26.5mm. This is driving me crazy. Can someone help me to settle this once and for all please?

Edit: Went down to my local dealer and got the OEM plugs. Wasn’t worth figuring this out today but still curious. Doing the passenger side plugs on these things suuucks.
