Recommended 22in. tires for GLE53 coupe

Was in a tire shop and they found the tire cord on the passenger tire shows up. And passenger rear tire got 2 nails that are too close to each other so that is not repairable. They recommend replacing all 4 tires.

The car is only 2 years old. Do I need to take it to Mercedes to evaluate again? If I do need to replace the tires, what are the recommended ones? Mine is the 22" factory one. Thanks!

I’ve got Michelin PS4S on my 22’s. Love them!

That's exactly what I have now. 4 new tires will cost like $2.5k? I'm also searching for alternatives. Also not sure if I can just swap out 2 tires and shave them to match with the other 2.

Anyone having Pirelli or Yokohama tires? How good/bad are they?

What's your tread depth, front and rear?
IDK the percentage difference is allowable, but that's the starting point.
I wouldn't mix brands or models, no matter what, though.

Mine came w/ Yokohamas from the factory. Excellent grip but terrible tread life. Only got 12k miles on them before having to replace with PS4s. If I recall, the Yokohamas were slightly more expensive than the PS4s also. I had to wait 2 1/2 months for the PS4s though due to low inventory.

You can mix tires if you want. It's not going to damage anything, but handling could be thrown off a bit but probably not in a way you'd even notice. Personally I would at least keep the front set and rear set the same tire (and same newness/tread depth). That way the vehicle is in equilibrium in the sagittal plane.

Thank you all. I ended up replacing the front tires only, with PS all season tires. The all season version has better treadwear grade.

For future reference, Michelin Pilot Sport has a 30k mile guarantee from Michelin. If you are not getting that, you can file a claim with them for replacement.
