Sport exhaust volume on cold start
3 month old Gle 53 which I love but it seems to be very nosy on cold starts under freezing. Generally I run on comfort settings including when I park for the night but when it is really cold I am certain it starts in a much louder exhaust setting till she warms up to where the high idle function goes away. After I first noticed this here in Canada I went south to Myrtle Beach where the symptoms went away but is now back once home.
it is not really a problem but I leave for work around 7 when some of my neighbors are still asleep.
Anyone else see this before I go in for Service A next week?

Ditto - mine is the same way, then after 30-45 seconds she idles down. And I experience that irrespective of the mode - comfort, sport or sport+.

Pretty sure it opens the exhaust valves quite a bit on cold start because you can hear the turbos whistling that much more when the idle goes down, but that's just my opinion. Same here on a 2017 63 S though, even without the Sport exhaust.
Would sorta make sense that it's trying to make sure it gets all of the highly-oxygenated gasses completely out of the exhaust system, since that's what a lot of cars do on cold starts via some kind of injection pump. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong in the case of our specific cars, though.

I use "emotion start" on my 2022 AMG GLE 63S almost every time I start it. Embarrassing to say but it is kind of a "look at me" moment...... I do wonder whether the increased rpm level at start is hard on the engine due to lack of initial lubrication with high rpm's at the start.

Great explanation on start-up programming. Thanks for that. The reason I was asking about high revs at startup was because Porsche 997's and earlier engines have a well known issue of bore scoring when cars sit for a while and are started before the bore is properly lubricated. It was clearly a design flaw by Porsche with cylinder composition and other issues.

WOW ! I had no idea about this "emotion start" option ! I tried it this evening and it's awesome. I'll be using this every time I start the beast from now on. I had no idea this existed, thank you !

On a different note, what tire pressures are you gents running on these cars? I have (and still do) owned several sports cars, and never once has the tire pressure been indicated to be higher in Front than rear I know the engine is heavy, but even on wife's land rover, the pressuree are more expected, at 44F and 48R so, on my GLE 53, I am running 40F and 36R as the fuel door indicates seems to be a nice balance of handling admittedly others?

It looks like numbers from the driver's door post, which aren't the recommended tire pressures. Which aren't the recommended inflation pressures.
The gas flap gives the recommended tire pressure.
I usually end up plus one or plus two over the gas flap pressures.

Tire Pressure
That doesn't look right.

However, after 5,000 miles, I saw excessive middle wear on the rears (>1/32), and backed off to 37/34. A slight change in feel, rear seems to contribute more to balance, so I'm still there. Wear evened out.
The 164/166 seemed to like the additional rear roll stiffness - with higher rear pressures.
But one of the things I like about the 167 is it's better balance and better involvement of the front end. Better overall balance.

And I agree with that, as it seems to make for crisp handling without harshness

Assume you are running the 22" setup?

OK helpful and thanks for the quick reply I only have ~1900 miles, so still playing around with pressure 95% of the time, its just me in the car, no passengers and no baggage, so perhaps even 40/38 is too much I'll try adjusting down to yours and see
