better exhaust sound
I always wonder if the 53 amg has a better exhaust sound than the 43 amg? Whenever I see a 53 in the road I always pass them by and a lady is driving it and the 43's pops and crackle mutes everything else so I can't here the other car. Anyone here who owned the 43 before moving to the 53 can give input?

I had a 2021 GLC43 coupe with sport exhaust that popped and crackled really loud when manually up shifted before red lining, but not so much my 2024 GLE53 SUV with SE. The 53 merely burps when up shifting thru the gears. On a more pleasurable note, the 53 really crackles when decelerating if I punch it to 200+ hp and then abruptly lift foot off accelerator, mostly in 3rd gear. I only do this when driving solo b/c it’s kind of like riding a bucking bull 😊.

GLE 2019 AMG 43 has WAY better exhaust sound then 2024 GLE 53. The new coupe sounds cheap and obnoxiously loud, main reason I am not moving on from my 2019 43. It feels like the engine sound is pumped into the cabin via the rear speakers, though not sure if that's the case; just "sounds like" to me. No matter, the engine noise is obnoxious and crap compared to smooth and confident sound of 2019 43.

TCO on an annual basis for 10k miles @ $4 is only $1200 more at 13MPG than at 25MPG. Gas probably doesn't cost you as much as a lot of people imagine - might as well have as much fun as possible, no?

I used to own a 2019 43 coupe and now own a 2021 53 coupe and my old exhaust sounds much much better. I’m extremely disappointed. What exhaust is on the market that we can buy to give us a better sound?

Define "better" please. I also have a 2019 43 coupe (and I love the exhaust sound) and my definition of "better" can significantly vary from yours.

That's odd as my experience is exactly the opposite of yours – I have found the new coupe sound to be artificially bass-y and cheap compared to a far more natural rumble of the 43 engine. The new coupe gives a strong impression of the sound being artificial all around – it gets into the cabin through speakers and not by natural means as in 43, etc.

Agreed. That’s what I mean exactly. You just articulated better lol. But yes that’s how I feel about the 53 in comparison to the 43. I absolutely love my 53 just not the sound

I am glad we agree. That cheap ***/ headache inducing engine sound is the main reason I am unable to upgrade from 43 to 53. Mercedes ruined GLE Coupes by introducing unnecessary changes for the worse. If you ever find a solution, post it here or drop me a line directly - I am eager to upgrade but test driving 53 even for 20 mins was enough to go home and count my blessings for not pulling the trigger. Mercedes ***** up again.

But there is no comparison in acceleration: combination of electric turbo and electric supercharger, along with Gen2 ISG. (Grins from ear to ear)

No noticeable difference in transmission/shifting. 53 feels more overworked - even in comfort mode it would rev and roar unnecessarily at 35 MPH. It may just be the exaggerated engine roar that steals attention, hard to tell from test drives. I drove the 53 4 times (different cars, different dealers), and same disappointing results. Cabin space is also cramped compared to the 43 (center console with stupid handles restricts knee space). This must be the proverbial step back before MB takes the two steps forward.

I think it takes a day or more to "unlearn" that behavior, unless you do a reset.

I'll join in and agree with the GLE53 sounding bad. Test drove it once and said nope. It's loud, shrill, and piped into the cabin like a screaming wailing dog coming from all directions.
My old GLC43 sounds better, has a lower, deeper, smoother tone/pitch that doesn't hurt my ears.

perhaps I am in the minority, but I enjoy the sound of the exhaust note in the GLE53 admittedly, its not nearly as nice as what was in mt '19 AMG E63s (I should have never sold that dang car), but then again, its not an 8-cylinder plus, I love the fact that you can easily turn the exhaust off / on from the steering wheel sometimes it does get a bit much and then I just turn it off now, as someone said earlier, when I have the room to run and can keep in S+ mode, that exhaust note is 100% on point (to me) have a great weekend

You may be missing the main point of this thread - 2024 model sounds noticeably and unnecessary WORSE than 2019 line. The engine is irreversibly screwed up by Mercedes with the introduction of that hybrid 48v system. Those who have 2019 pure gasoline AMG GLE 43 will know it right away. Not arguing, stating the facts - pure gasoline GLE 43 sounds VERY different from models 2020 and onward - coincides with the introduction of poorly thought out hybrid drive. Now I am not considering Mercedes ever again for my next car. I test drove Audit SQ8 (pure gasoline V8) and was throughly impressed. Everything my current car is and so much better (of course, going from AMG GLE 43 V6 to V8 in Audi). SQ8 sounds refined, quiet, comfortable, barely noticeable in the cabin. Flip SQ8 to sports mode and open the exhaust valves - boom, the sound kills all life in 1 mile radius as some folks prefer. Materials, assembly, interior parts quality - top notch. "The best or nothing" is no longer Mercedes, IMHO. That era has been crushed and destroyed by Mercedes itself.

There's a vid on youtube posted by IPE for gle53. I would say what you hear from the vid is not 100% accurate tho. That car was downpipe. So the tone is higher than catback.
I have my gle53 go with IPE. At the time I was deciding between Armytrix/Capristo (dont know if capristo do the GLE53 but I heard it installed in E53, very good in high pitch tone) and IPE.
Armytrix seems to be good in higher tone only, no body in the sound. I dont think it suits my SUV tho hahh.
It was about go "Vhaaaaaddddd" or go " Vhooommmm"
IPE is gentle sporty grown man! That would be my experience.
