GLE63 AMG S Breaks squeaking.
A newbie here.
I’m hearing squeaking breaking noise from my 2017 GLE63s. No warning signs on dash yet.
Checking the rotor, there is a definite outer edge lip. The pads seems to have life left.
I recently had the worst experience at Manhattan Merc dealership and I don’t want to return there. I remember someone saying AMG rotors cost up to $7k per wheel. I’m assuming he was quoting for ceramic rotors? Online I’m seeing $2k ish for all four.
Few questions for the forum. Are there better after market rotors I should look into?
Studying rotor replacement vids, the installation seems to be at DIY level.
Please me know your thoughts.
Thank you,
Joe

Like, HARD from 60-5, repeat. The hard part is finding a place where you won't upset traffic or get arrested - 90-5 is better, but it takes some room.

Thank you.
I've always found that performance oriented pads, once temps fall below 20 or so, will begin to squeal. Does it occur on a 50 degree or warmer day?
If the rotors have over 50K on them, OK...maybe they're the culprit but squealing is typically a function of the wear indicator on the brake pads making contact with the rotor. It's a strong bet that the wear indicator probably won't begin making noise until AFTER your in-dash indicator lights. I don't know for certain but would believe the in-dash indicator lights with 3 or 4mm remaining. The pad wear indicator probably makes rotor contact at 2mm.
The lip on the rotor is no big deal, what matters most is the remaining rotor thickness. If you want peace of mind, have a trusted brake shop measure your pad and rotor thickness, it'll answer your question pretty quickly.
Good luck!

Did you install the replacements yourself?
