Pre-Safe Inoperative

Hey All,

Got a 2021 GLE 63 (W167) - and the other day got a message on the screen saying "Pre-safe Inoperative see operator's manual" - the car drive fine and self driving feature of the car works perfectly fine and has no issues and also comes to a stop of the car in front of me stops. But don't understand why the message is there, there is no error codes in the car. Scanned the car with an OBD reader and it showed no errors.

Attached is the image of the issue. what would you recommend i try.

What kind of scanner did you use to scan the vehicle, make sure it is capable in reading MB specific codes, alternatively get your service advisor to scan for you remotely: https://developer.mercedes-benz.com/...nostic_support

There are several sensors that could be the cause of the warning message, not limited to the distronic radar and or the seat belt tensioner modules. Pre-safe is a fairly complex system . Here is a link that has some more information about it :

If you have DISTRONIC, I am thinking it is the grille sensor behind the star. If not, it is probably the hood camera, that has a known fogging up issue that needs to be vented, I believe there was a bulletin to fix that one.

Here is the fogging up issue I mentioned but that is more of a camera view restricted message not pre-safe inoperative. https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ispreloading=1

Definitely worth the read. One fo the memebers posted

When the light goes on, I turn the key to on, then unwind the seatbelt to full extension from the pillar giving a tug at the end, then let it rewind all the way slowly back in all the way. Then I grab the height adjuster and pull up toward headliner twice, Light alway goes off and stays off.

And I did that -- it worked and the light went away and the system seems to be working perfectly. So strange sometimes this small make it work.
