The diesel version is NOT slated for early 2009, the GLK300 and GLK350 are the first to arrive here for the 2009 model year in early 2009, Jan.

The concept version is just that a concept, there has been no official mention of the diesel coming here in early 2009.

Question oh...

my bad....so there is NO GLK arriving in 2008?....must have misread...well, that rules it out for me...too late..looking for a smaller SUV for the wife...

any suggestions among:

1.X3
2.RDX
3.MDX
4.X5
5.RX350
6.X6?
7.Enclave?
8.Infiniti EX/FX

Like the ML but a bit out of price range with all options that I want....

Thanks

2008 R350 & 2008 C300
Actually my salesman said they are looking at getting a demo unit in October..thats all up in the air really, but if it holds true you will be able to place an order in October of 08 and take delievery sometime in early January depending on how many orders they get and on any hold ups in production.

As for engine choices...I realize the MB website says there will be a diesel, but according to a salesman there will only be a GLK300 and GLK350 with the chance of a Bluetec version coming in 2010, all depends on if they decide to release that version as the ML and GL will share it with the GLK.

By the way a ML350 with the p1 package runs about 49k the ML320 with p1 about 50k and I could see you getting 3 to 4k off that price easily. Also, I know its not a favorite of many people but the R350 with the p1 is around 50k and I've heard of discounts as much as 6-7k off those, that easily puts it in the same range as the base prices of the other cars you mentioned, but I'm sure you can get money off those as well right now.

Steel Grey 2012 ML350 is wife's
The projected pricing of the GLK seems too high as when compared to the more durably constructed and well equiped Vance, AL platform vehicles. I was hoping this GLK would be priced in the 30's. Furthermore, there's no shortage of very low milage '05 ML350 and 500's with remaining factory warranty (plus possible starmark) priced in the $20's. The $25 or more grand I save on the front end will more than make up for the 22% less fuel economy.

The pricing for the GLK..while not official yet...is said to be around $35k for a GLK300 base model and as much as $50k for a loaded GLK350. I've been chatting my salesman's ear off about the GLK seeing if I could get any more info about it, but as usual Benz is keeping everyone in the dark really. He did say that the pricing seems a bit high for him as he could easily put someone into an ML350 optioned out nicely with discounts for less than a fully loaded GLK350. Its safe to say the GLK will follow the C class pricing with about a 1500 to 2000 premium over C class cars for the extra body space.

I am looking for a safe ride for my nearly 15 year old and am considering the GLK and X3 since she wants an SUV when she turns 16. And yes, I know it is extravagant but she's a great kid and I'll do what it takes to keep her safe when she drives. But my dealer confirms that what was said earlier here, that it will be cheaper to get into a ML 320 or ML 350 than a similarly optioned GLK. The added benefit to the ML diesel is that is a six cylinder and the one slated for the GLK is reportedly a 2.2 liter...

Yes, dollar vs euro makes for pricing problems for sure.

Probably not a good idea to set up a first time driver in something too big, ML's have some big blind spots. Ever think of setting her up in a C class? Probably get a good deal on one after they have been out for a year.

Why not get her an 06 E class...or a used ML. I believe 100% in the safety but do not believe a 16 year old (even a great one) should think they are entitled to a brand new Mercedes, no matter how much money you COULD spend on her...
