They still sort of screw you over with that wood option though, its not available with the black mbtex, you have to order the full leather package. The beige mbtex comes with wood though, which would probably be my first choice anyways.

Built one today ...came out to be 46Kish ... problem is Im guessing the lease rates will be **** poor. Right now you can get a ML350 (with a MSRP of $53,300ish) for $539 with $4300 down. If the lease rates are crap Im betting you can get the ML for less, which is much more roomy. I like how the GLK looks better but over all with the Econ Im would go for what ever is the better deal.

Dealers always throw around junk info, but SoCal dealer is saying MB has notified dealers they will build 30% fewer cars in 2009. I understand a cut back, but 30% seems extreme. As a NEW model, aimed at lower price point, GLK would seem to be place to expand production.
Dealer said MB wants dealers on a 30 day, not 60 day inventory cycle. Dealer said very limited opportunity to special order cars because of cut backs and block package builds.
I hope some of this is BS. I absolutely want to buy GLK ASAP, but I am not going spend $48k for car that is not the color, trim and features I want.

Online USA build, not final. Site and car options changing.
Three days ago, I built a GLK, with Black/Almond MB-Tex and "wood" trim, it was accepted for summary report and $48,600 price. Yesterday I tried to build the same car and choice for MB-Tex, with "wood" trim was rejected. You had to order full leather package to get "wood" trim, but wood trim is not part of leather package or an option. This is a total rip. New price is pennies under $50,000.
I really want to buy a fully loaded GLK, but we have very nice cars and do not need to buy first quarter of 2009 as hoped. This type of Monkey business is a turn off.
By the time MB gets around to being able to deliver GLK's the way customer wants to order them, the new BMW X3 will be out and I bet it will be outstanding, with a better engine.
Still hopeful MB gets its act together for launch in a few days. I really think they have created a winner, if they can deliver what hgh end buyers want.

Thought I might add that the link posted by the first user is for the 2wd GLK350. The GLK350 4matic is about $1k more.

This vehicle might spell trouble for MB, while most car companies are getting rid of over lapping cars, Mercedes comes out with a GLK that over laps a C350 and a ML350. Price wise, speced out with the same options a GLK350 4matic comes in cheaper than what a C350 would if it were available with 4matic. On the other hand a savoy buyer could walk away with an ML350 with more options for the same if not less than the price of the GLK. Given a full year on the market the GLK discounts will put it into C300 territory easily. Leaves me to wonder if the average buyer would really want to put more money into less of a vehicle (C300 vs. GLK350) yes the GLK will be marginally larger, but not by that much compared to the C class sedan.
I built a GLK to my liking and it came out to $42k, my C300 4matic has a price of $41k now and has less options and a smaller engine. The C300 has some pretty heavy discounts right now, but given the full year as mentioned above the GLK should easily still beat the C class in pricing. Wonder if a C class price decrease is in the near future?

CORRECTION
My previous post said GLK I built online came in just pennies under "$60k" if full leather package is required to get wood trim. OBVIOUS typo, WRONG. Came in just under $50k.
Modification to my comment regarding online build, if you select black obsidian and the almond interior, it selects wood trim for you and does NOT require you to select full leather package.
BUT, if you select the black osidian, select almond interior and "click to select" wood trim, it tells you full leather interior is required with wood selection. SO which is it?

MtnMachine - why would a fully loaded car have MB-Tex and not leather?
BTW, went to look at GLK yesterday and have to say it looks much better in person. The lines/angles work very well together and the overall looks is stylish yet sporty. FWIW, wife loved it and it's a good thing they didn't have one to sell on the lot Didn't care too much for the 7 spoke wheels and that is about the only disagreement I had with we saw.

Having owned Mercedes with both, I can say . . . your backside won't know the difference. MB-Tex is an awesome seating material, with virtually no maintenance, tougher than leather and nearly indistinguisable from hides. In a sport utility vehicle, it's not without merit to choose this excellent interior material.
Leather isn't all that it's "cracked up" to be . . . pun intended.
