That's cuz you are in Canada. It seems that you guys don't have very good deals. Prolly cuz your dealers are smarter and don't overstock and try to oversell.

MBUSA is just a badly managed company. Only way they are still successful is because they are selling Benz, they pretty much sell themselves. MBUSA was doing so poorly that they had to bring in CEO of MB Canada to run the ship couple of years ago, even then its still stays pretty much out of touch with what consumers want. They claim they do focus group but I really wonder how that is being ran.

Just the fact that they had to rename Tenorite Grey to Steel Grey... I bet they paid tons of money to marketing just to figure that one out

Does anybody know the cost of the 'keyless go' option and is this a stand alone option or lumped in with a package?

I don't think it's available in US. Not even sure when it will be available.

Does anybody know if the UMI can be ordered with the Command NAV...without the MM package?
I want real time traffic and NAV, but could care less of the other items in the MM package.
Thanks

UMI comes with NAV and can't be combined with COMMAN Nav. Not sure about the differences between the two.

NYCGLK,

so if I order the MM package, I get UMI included already?
so I should have real time traffic then...correct?

I don't think traffic comes with Command Navi. I don't know it comes with UMI (my understanding was no)

I think there are 3 routes to go now.

1) MM - Included Command Navi and funcionality of UMI (I have no idea what UMI does, but I think some people wrote about it, so just search for that) and HK sound.

2) You can get Command Navi with 7 inch screen, then you can't get UMI

3) Or you can get UMI which also includes Navi and keeps the 5 inch screen.

I think you best bet is to find a good salesman who knows this stuff, this sht is confusing as hell. Again I thought that traffic does not come in US in any combo.

NYCGLK, it is comfusing as hell...and if the salesman would know, I would not be asking quesitons
Here is the description of UMI:

Universal Medai Interface (079)
Includes GPS map navigation, lifetime traffic and audio interface in the glove compartment. Not Available with 512.

So if MM includes UMI, then we should get real time traffic...or does it mean that you cannot order it with MM and UMI, but UMI can be dealer installed later even if you have MM?...
Sheesh...

Great, so the only way to get NAV and traffic is to get the MM and the UMI.
Thanks

GLK 350 AWD Steel Grey/Black Interior (3/18/09); E63AMG (5/5/2011)
I don't think UMI and the MM package can be combined. When you add the multimedia package or the COMAND with navigation option in the online configurator at MBUSA.com, the UMI option become unavailable (and vice versa).

The UMI is supposed to be an add on to the Audio20 which comes with the base GLK. Not sure if it can be added on to the COMAND system which comes with the multimedia package.

By the way traffic on the UMI slows down the navi in my opinion, unless they come out with a software update on it. In my experience it is great when it works but it takes a long time to load, and when it updates when you're on the road the navi stops talking and you have to rely on the display to see if you're near or at your destination. So most of the time I have the traffic option off.

Or you can just buy $500 portable GPS that has traffic support.

Or just buy UMI which has NAV, Free Live traffic support, iPod integration, USB Port and Bluetooth Audio Streaming. Here is the link with picture http://www.benzblogger.com/2008/11/u...-2010-glk.html

Or just wait and Mercedes will release a vehicle with detachable (portable) NAV. They have already announced 8 Mercedes Benz vehicles beginning the second half of 2010 will have this feature. Maybe GLK might be one of them. Here is the link to the article. http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com...ation-Systems/

Also, UMI is developed by MB and OEM NAV is made by Mitsubishi (C-class(W204) & GLK)

I am from Texas. UMI and MM cannot be combined. One or the other. I would rather have the upgraded hk sound so that I can listen to good music while sitting in crappy traffic. 8am traffic sucks, 5pm traffic sucks. Just write that on a peice of paper and tape it to the dash then you will have live traffic.

I don't drive to work, but totally agree. I don't get the point of live traffic either. If traffic is there you can find way around yourself (if there is another way). If you just want to know before making the trip, just look it up on google, can do that on your iphone or Blackberry. I think the idea is great, it's just not developed enough yet.

If the Live Traffic feature is anything like the one on the portable GPS, when the accident happens along your normal route while you are driving the NAV will recalculate the alternate on the fly, if the information is available over the FM frequency.

I don’t know how you will do that with iphone or Blackberry. If the infrastructure is available in Toronto Canada, I would have imagine its available in major metropolitan like NYC.

This would be useful on a trip when you don't know the roads. When it comes to around here, if there is traffic it's either everywhere or you know best ways to avoid it. Plus your gps does not know about the accident for some time, and once it learns that there is an accident you'll see the traffic with your own eyes. Google maps updates for traffic around here pretty well, so you can see what's out on the roads before you head out. Also when you are driving and see traffic, you can see on google maps how far it streches and plan your route accordingly. I know GPS with live traffic would do it for you, but those things are weird sometimes with directions and alternates routes.

I agree with you that sometime the latest accident information is not available right way. Also, by time you see the traffic build up with your own eyes, no system can you save you.

I think it’s a great feature for daily commute because knowing about the accident ahead of time can make a difference between arriving in time or late for work.

For me,
No Live Traffic = No build-in NAV

Because its like PC with no Internet (Maybe this might be too extreme).

I still do not understand why OEM NAV does not have this feature when S-Class and CL-Class has it, is it because its entry level SUV? Who know maybe GLK might be the one of the 8 model to receive the hybrid(Portable) navigation systems that’s rolling out in second half of 2010.

I don't know where you guys are getting these great 'under invoice' or 'at invoice' deals, but here in Houston Texas, none of the MB dealers are dealing very much on these cars.
If anybody can recommend a dealer to sell me a GLK at published invoice...I will be glad to send my business that way and make a road trip out of it.
