Buying A GLK - Please Share Your Thoughts
Hi guys,
A friend of mine is in the market for a brand new fully loaded GLK. She has been offered a 2010 Steel Grey Launch Edition 350W4 for 48K out the door. Is there room for more negotiation or should she take it?
Vehicle Info:
GLK350W4
Steel Grey
Black MB-Tex
P01 Premium Package: Garage Door Opener
Lighting Package: Bi-Xenon Headlamps
Multimedia Package: Review Camera
Sport Appearance Package: 20" 7-Spok
iPod/MP3 Media Interface: iPod/MP3 M
Aluminum Trim
Rear Seat Entertainment
Launch Volume
Thanks

Here is a tip if you have multi MB dealers around you,
call them up and ask them to beat the price the other dealer is offering you. do this back and forth, you should be near the bottom.

go to cars.com and build it with the options you are being offered, subtract dest. charge this is invoice price. Your offer price should be around this, usually lower by a 300-500 bux.

Came from a Lexus IS250 AWD
Also go to other dealerships - Like Audi (Q5) and Lexus (RX350) and tell them to beat the GLK offer which they will try to do then go back to the MB dealership and inform them of the other offers. Once dealerships know that you’re looking at other comparable/price brands they hate to lose and will almost do anything within their means to win. It takes time and effort, but in the end you will get a good deal. There are all kinds of different tactics to use when purchasing a car. This is just one tactic.

Thanks guys for the info. I see that the cash sale price on the paper they gave her is 44K. I had already checked out the RX350 before going to MB, thats why I think they gave a 45k offer. Cars.com says $44,530 for invoice even though they told her they were giving her below invoice (lol car sales men).
Thankfully you guys gave me some more ideas to work with so that I can do some more homework before going through with anything. I wonder how much people are paying for this thing a month? Any ideas?
Also what do you guys think if she trades in her 04 RX330 with 105,000 miles? I advised her not to do that because the dealer won't give a good trade in value for it. On the other hand I don't think anyone would buy such a car in this market....???
Thanks Again!

you will be surprised on the used car market now... lots of ppl got rid of their new car that they couldn't afford. I never trade in. however, always work out a price first before telling them you want a trade in. once you got to your price point, then mentioned about trade in. Use kbb.com or edmunds.com as a measure, if its not around that area, I would just sell it on your own.

I'd see what dealer offers. If you have time to sell it yourself then by all means do it.
I was offered 6k for 03 Matrix with 32k. I think this is a rip off as they are selling for 9-12k on cars.com. So i'm gonna try to sell myself for 9 or so.
If it does not see, you can always sell for trade-in in a blink of an eye and feel good about giving a person other than dealer a good deal :-)
I can tell you that in my case 44k plus 2600 extended warranty plus BS fees plus 7% sales tax comes to about 800 (798 to be exact) a month with no money down (1.9% apr for 66 months).
