Those who purchased a GLK equipped with either package in the US in February or March received a $2,000 refund. Mercedes wouldn't say how many buyers got the refund.

Yes - MB is offering new packages now. Those who purchased either of the 2 packages will get a 2000k refund.

I think we got the refund on the spot. won't be a check in the mail.
I believe that's the same 2k off if your car is equipped with MM and P1. The promotion ended in April. Some folks here who got their quote and didn't commit in March, had their price went up 2k.

I hope not. But you may be right. My dealer stated that he would take 2k off the MSRP, but didn't state it was due to the package combo. Dealer stated he would give me 4k off the ML350 without even negotiating first.

I was one of those. My price went up 1400 in 4 days. I was able to have the guy take another 500 off.

Taking 2k of MSRP has nothing to do with the package. I still got 4k off MSRP. With the "rebate" I was quoted for 5k off MSRP. So dealer takes only 2k off that's a very greedy dealer haha. MLs prolly will cost less than GLK soon. hehe Btw it's not a refund for us, it's refund for the dealer, who is able to pass on with lower price.

As far as packages go, I think getting just sunroof without P1 is good move, but I would still get the P1 as I need memory function (which also included power lumbar) and the power tailgate is too neat for me not to get.

And you still need to get MM to get premium sound, I'd skip navi if premium sound a separate option. So don't feel bad webada, you didn't get cheated. Now you have an option of getting just cappry navi without prem. sound.

If anybody has the chance to check with MB before I do, can you please inform us with this is true or not. It states those who already purchased their GLK in the last two months are eligible for a $2,000 refund. MB did not make this known to its customers who got 2k off the top without any negotiations. If MB was taking 2k off the top already than there is no need to give 2k back.

I've never heard of mail in rebates on a car purchase unless it was stated upfront (ie, cash back) and even then the cash back is blended into the walk out price.

The price you pay driven off the lot is the price you pay. NYCGLK is right, the refund is to the dealers, dealers than "advances" these rebates to customers. Works like a coupon... Factory cash back.

ofcourse, if you or any members do find out otherwise, please do let us know. I purchased my GLK in March.


EDIT: man, come to think of it, I would love to see my dealer's face if I send him this article and demand my refund. Maybe I will give him a call...

Media misconstrues everything. I see that by logic you would think that since you bought 2 packages and now there are options available, you should get some sort of discount. Just like when iphone dropped 200 bux ppl got a refund. Well the article does not tell you that 2k discounts were available during those months so whoever bought the GLK's with P1 and MM already got that "refund", except for me who got stock in the middle. I'm def gonna talk to my dealer about this.

I can see people being eligible for 2k refund if you bought for MSRP, but who did that?

I ordered my GLK and put down a deposit in February, does that count for the $2k discount? I asked for and received a $1,500 off MSRP.

no, it depends when you take delivery. My guess is that the 2k refund has to go against the ones the dealer had already ordered in the lot. if you specifically asked for MM and P1 to order, I don't think the dealer would apply the 2k discount.

I bet Webada is right about date of purchase vs order, but not sure about ordered car point. All depends on how the "factory" program is structured.

MB dealers have had a number of "factory" promo's for MLs and E class lately, with $3k-$4k off list from MB, not dealer. Dealer does not give up anything by passing "factory" discount to customer and sometimes actually gains in points or other incentives.

I will ask my sales rep. My car is suposed to be built last week of April and I have not been given a build date or VIN# confirmation yet.

Cmon MB, don't leave me hangin out here.

It depends when you order the car. This is when you lock into the price. APR depeneds on when you take delivery. If on March 27th, when I was there I said ok I'm taking the car, my price would have included that 2k discount, but I would be risking apr not being there in April. The car was not on the lot an was heading to to CO.

I was under impression that if he were to order car for me at that point the 2k discount would be applied. I guess it doesn't matter now as we'll never find out.

I contacted Mercedes Benz customer service to inquire if I qualified for the refund and a case manger responded back to me, saying that the Autoweek article was incorrect and that they are trying to get the statements made or the article retracted.

I don't know if she was telling me the truth or not.

Damnit - I wonder how Autoweek obtained that information and if there was an official/unofficial documentation along with it. I wonder if the receive that information from an inside source. I will send an email to Autoweek to confirm.

This is my first post here and I was wondering (with all this rebate talk here) what is a fair price for the GLK anyway?
Is it 'invoice'?...or $500 over?...or $1,000 over?
I'm just trying to get a feel for what the dealers are doing...

This is the deal I got in the San Francisco Bay Area on 03/31/09 for your referrence.

775 Iridium Silver $720.00
057 iPod Integration Kit $375.00
P01 Premium Pakage $3,150.00
322 Sport Appearance Package $970.00
Destination $875.00
Total MSRP $41,990.00

I paid $37,490.00 plus tax, license and misc fees, for a total of $41,015.21 and 1.90% financing for 66 months.

I think the price I paid was $1500.00 below invoice and I also asked about the .90% financing and they said it was not available. I don't know if the dealer was telling me the truth about the financing, but I went with the deal anyway.

^^^You got lucky with 3/31/09 date, when 2k off were being offered to dealers.

Asiandude, you should be looking for about invoice price (not including destination charge, to me Dest Charge) so if you go to cars.com and look at invoice price making sure dest is not part of it, that's the price they are going for even less in many cases.

I don't get it, why would they sell a brand new 2010 model for 1500 under invoice?
Does this have anything to do with the 2K allowance that MB is giving to dealers to move the early 4Matic GLKs?

NYCGLK, there is a $500 fee that is showing on my dealer's invoice, and this is the invoice that is from MBUSA...So to be equal to the dealer's invoice I will have to add 500 to the invoice at kbb.com or edmunds.com
