There is far more to the OEM Trailer Hitch package than just the metal parts. There is a software aspect to the package ensuring trailer stability while towing. I believe it to be worth every penny.

+1

There is also the integrated wiring and fuse banks for the trailer lights and pre-wiring for a brake controller. Installation after delivery cost 2 - 3x the factory installed hitch.

Hop on over to GL board and do a search for trailer hitch. Scott and Bish know what they are talking about.

I'm just curious to see what are you trying to save? You have to find hitch brace that fits. Then you have to find somebody to weld the brace part on to your brand new GLK. That somebody then has to run wiring and make sure that no error codes appear and wiring is put away nicely which can require taking half a car apart. Then what if something happens when you do tow, who are you gonna blame if your hitch fails?

Check uhaul for Toyota as they don't have brace for MB's. Brace alone is $150 bux. So if you wanna go with something like this it'll still cost at least 200-300 bux.

My car is coming with the hitch next week, I can let you know more as to how well it's put on.
