New User, new GLK owner :)

Hey all just thought I'd introduce myself as I have just joined the forum, no trolling!

I'm in Richmond, BC Canada and I've just recently purchased a factory order 2010 GLK, expect to take delivery in October; the waiting list here is pretty brutal!

Here's my specs:
- Tenorite Grey Metallic paint
- Burl Walnut Trim
- Keyless Go
- Comand Nav package
- Premium package
- Sport package with aluminum roof rails and the 20" twin spokes
- Bi-Xenon Headlamp package

Can't wait to take delivery of this vehicle and to take some pics if it's not been overdone by then haha!
I've read so much about it and have test driven a few times, my first test being early in the year in Jan 09. It meets my needs exceptionally well, it's practical, has good solid feel, and looks great to boot! (imho)

Cheers everyone!

Did you pick up the car today and was it a Chinese female insurance agent that had glasses, that did your insurance? Did she give you a good license plate for your GLK?

I'm scheduled for 4pm today, not sure which insurance agent will be there today but when my brother picked up his SLK a month ago it was a youngish girl no glasses and she had an assortment of plates to go through.
I'm hoping I can get a decent number today because she didn't have really good ones for my brother, he ended up going with 978.

It's cloudy today but I'm hoping it holds up without rain at least so I can snap a few pics!

I picked up my GLK last week from Broadway and the licence plates choices were very limited. The insurance lady was an older Chinese woman with glasses and a sweet Rolex Yacht-Master.

It will actually be someone from our office, I work in the Richmond Automall insurance company. If you have time call me @ 604 270-7709, I have a few good plates in my locker as well, as the selection they will show you.

So I picked up the car earlier today, as you all know I'm going through the new car in love phase. I can't describe how much I am liking my car right now. I've paired my Nokia e71 to the car via bluetooth and the voice command is a dream, way smoother than I had thought!

It really does hide the speed, I thought I was cruising at a leisurely pace and when I looked down I was doing 80+ km/h!

Feel free to ask me any questions I will try to answer them to the best of my abilities!

So a few things before the pics!

1) A big thank you to Edison-Chen of the forums, I called him and met up with him to do my insurance and get a nice little plate number. Very nice guy it was great meeting a fellow member!

2) Some things I noticed:
- I have the Pirelli tires
- I have the new key style
- chrome foglamp accessory = best $200 spent ever
- my dealer told me GLKs don't have active bi-xenons but tonight I noticed them move in the direction of my steering; so surprise to me they do have them!

So onto a few pics, I am going to a more scenic location tomorrow to take a few better shots! Here is me picking her up today

Kamen, Congrats on the new ride! The chrome fog surrounds look sweet... i'm thinking of getting them put on mine now! The keyless go is the best thing in the world, eh! That and the xenons! Two options I wasn't gonna get initially but I would be kicking myself if I hadn't!

I'm glad to hear you are in love with your GLK! And trust... you'll only love it more the more you drive it. I had do set my wallpaper with a picture of it so I could see it when i'm in the loft!! Pathetic but great! Have you ripped around in Sports Mode Yet? Awesome!

Hey JT, yea I've ripped around in S mode it's quite fun haha I'm overall enjoying this car to the max. Perfect for my lifestyle.
I know what you mean on the xenons and keyless. I pretty much had a checklist on things my next car had to have before I bought it and those 2 options were definitely high on the list. I know it's not an absolute necessity but I just love them.

Veerodder, the number thing is mostly a Chinese/Asian thing. Some numbers are equated to bad fortune, the most common one being the number 4 as it sounds the same as death in Chinese, hence why you never see the 4, 14th, etc floors in a highrise.
I was born and raised in Canada, not too particular about the number, I mostly picked a "good" one so my parents wouldn't give me heck hahaha

I think it just means letter/numbers and sequence... aesthetics really. That and some people and some cultures like and don't like certain numbers for various reasons (ie. 8 = good, 4 = bad, etc.)

I wouldn't want a plate that was PIP - 444... sounds funny and 4's are unlucky!

Just a question, is the front plate in most areas mandatory? I see it on in many of the pics on here. It isn't here in Alberta, which is sweet...

Yup front plates are mandatory here in BC. I know they aren't required in AB and my Calgary friends always give me a hard time about it haha

Hey Kamen, CONGRATULATIONs on your new 'baby'.
I am in Vancouver, and mine is due for my bday in December. Can't wait.

Kamen, 2 questions...

What do you mean "the new key style"?
Also, did you order Bi-Xenon pkg or was there something missing. I thought "active adaptive lights" was standard on this pkg?

thanks,

When you turn left or right. The corresponding fog light will turn on for a few seconds. The headlight itself does not move.

I noticed that but I also noticed them appear to be moving as well, similar the other active bi xenons I've experienced.

Optional Multimedia Package includes the Command multifunction controller, navigation system, six-disc Harmon/Kardon entertainment system and backup camera. A Special Lighting Packages caters to improved night time driving visibility with swiveling bi-xenon headlamps and integrated washers. Large LED taillights highlight the rear fascia. Dual screen rear seat entertainment system, iPod connection kit and parking sensors are stand alone options.

I could be wrong though but if they really are active it's a nice surprise and kind of justifies the price of the Lighting package

mr.mbenz,

Yes I do have the bi-xenon lighting option.
And the new key, refer to this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...09-models.html

Attached is also a pic of the key styling I'm talking about:

It was nice meeting with you yesterday, and I hope you have fun with the car. I got to wait till next year, before I make my purchase for the GLK.

Depends on the architect. Some bldgs ommit floor 13 (more common in North America) and others ommit floor 14.
