Picked up GLK yesterday

Hi all...my first post. Picked up our new GLK350 yesterday.
-White exterior/Black interior
-Sport Package
-Premium Package
-Trailer Package
-Xenon Lighting Package

Our very first MB
Fabulously nice inside and out, impeccable fit and finish, quiet smooth, no roadnoise/windnoise/rattles etc. A definite head turner. Had plenty of stares and pointing from other drivers.

I work in the automotive industry for one of the Japanese auto manufacturers as a Product Quality Engineer. I look at fit and finish every day. The GLK is impeccable. Love the vehicle!

My only gripe was when picking up the vehicle upon delivery. I was told that this vehicle had the Aluminum rails as part of the Sport Package. I'm aware of the shortage or limited quantity numbered GLKs with aluminum rails. When my dealer found one in the combination I wanted he said Yes it had the rails. Well, upon delivery it showed up with black rails....sorta downed my buying experience with MB. I even called MB Canada head office...nothing can be done...dealer has offered to pay for my first service as compensation.

Ah well, kinda dissapointed it has the black rails, but what can you do

Welcome!!

Are you from Canada? They had shortage of aluminum rails. Consider adding location for your profile as US and Canadian GLKs differe a bit.

If you had to have the black rails, you could not have picked a better color. In fact, the black rails on the white care great looking.

We love our GLK. Have had other MBs and BMWs and the GLK is the real deal.

Enjoy

I still don't see too many GLK's around here (4-5). Compare that to C, ML, GL, hell I even see more G's. But BMW's are the most popular - 3's, 5's and new X5 are every where. I don't count X3 as it's very old model and there are obviously lots of them on the roads.

Well I was simply talking in general comparing to the last six months. You are abosultely right the 3 series, 5 are much more common along with the c, ml, etc.

I order mine few weeks ago, and my salesman told me it would be aluminum rail just as the OP has said, hopefully I will not end up with the black rail. If it happens to me, I would refuse to pickup the vehicle.

Now I am worry.

GLK 350X :0
Cool Congratulations

... if the dealer knew about the 350X... it would have been equipped with the 20" and aluminum rails as standard. Hence, the price increase as well. I believe, as of August 13th, all orders were moved over to the 350X series. It seems your order was prior?

enjoy your new GLK...

Congrats - I am sure the car looks great with black rails. My GLK is black with sport etc but I have seen white & if they had had one with other options I wanted I think white would have been my first color choice.

Congrats on the new GLK.
I am from Canada as well, and dont have the cooler aluminium roof rails. They should have coloured them silver to compensate. I was told on pre delivery inspection that the reason was the connecting screws was causing a rusting problem that they saw on the ML's rear aluminium rear bumper. I have seen a few with the rust stain so I bought the story at the time, but I have seen a few GLKs with aluminium roof rails so I am wondering if they fixed the prob or it was a stocking issue all along.

As a quality engineer, I'd love to read your evaluations of various cars. For obvious reasons you're not saying who you work for. Three possibilities I'm aware of in Ontario: CAMI (but that's mostly GM), Toyota, and Honda. I have noticed that panel fits on Hondas and Acuras aren't what they used to be, or at least aren't what I remember them being.
