Our GLK replaced a 2004 Mercedes C240 station wagon. We miss the wagon but needed a more comfortable vehicle.

6-speed manual. black/black. Bumped to 450 HP. Great car, but not very practical.
Loved every minute of driving it, but it is not an every day ride.
GLK makes more sense.

Hello all, I'm new to the Mercedes family and the forum. I just got my 2012 glk 350 4matic with premium 1, Nav. and more goodies. I traded in my 09 Forester Limited, (Had a lot of equity built into it, Subies hold their value tremendously). Anyway, this GLK is a dream to drive, solid feel, fast, intuitive, and sexy as hell. My Forester was great too, but it lacked in the solid build department. The doors sounded like tin cans and the interior was already rattling...the car was only 3 years old and I never drove it hard. The car was the best bang for the buck, but you do get what you pay for. In this case the Mercedes is the supreme being.

I went from this:

The wife is the lucky one getting the GLK350, I'm hoping she will let me drive it some time! She's trading in a 2006 Ford Escape with 97K mile on it, I hope we get as good or better service out of the GLK as we have the Escape. Black with tan interior, we pick it up tomorrow night and will post a pic after we get it.

Me...went from 97 Acura 2.2 CL (great quality zero issues, smooth ride, but very weak on power) to BMW 335i X-drive...wait...wrong forum. But loving that car.

Wife..giving up bullet proof 99 RAV 4 with zero issues (sturdy faithful ride), but very very weak on power, noisy and very tight rear seat, to 2012 GLK 350 4matic palladium silver, convenience and premium, COMAND and Nav. No pics 'cause delivery end April/ Mid May. Wife is excited.

I just got a 2012 GLK 4Matic. It replaced a 07 CLS 550. Yes I loved the CLS but this 4Matic is more practical for driving in the rain/snow/mountains.

OK...my wife's is finally here. Picking it up this Saturday. Whew...had lots of preparation to do for this. Transfer her personalized license plate to her name (it was registered under me), do a safety inspection on her car so that I can gift it to her sister, then early on Saturday transfer and gift the Rav 4 to my sister, then trade in sister's Ford focus (registered under wife) to dealership. Later turn in those plates also.

2010 GLK 350 Sandstone Beige
I traded a 2010 GLK (S. Beige) for a 2012 Acura MDX-Tech - Palladium Silver and can't be happier. The GLK is too small for traveling (luggage & back seat) and cost a mint for the A & B service. Plus I hated the constant brake dust on the wheels. The trade value was fantastic though and USAA car buying service made the deal sweeter (6K off including Conquest) + .9% interest.

2009 320GL downsize

With a 18 year old and a now 16 year old boy, we got the smaller SUV as the kids don't go with us as often and thus don't need the extra space. I will miss the economy on the long trips, but couldn't wait until Oct/Nov for the new GLK diesel as the lease ends this week and the extra cost to extend the lease wasn't worth the cost. Picking up the 'K' on Friday.

GLK chrome trunk

My chrome piece is sealed on the right and left edges until the middle. Is this supposed to be loose in the middle to prevent water from getting trapped. If anyone can press down on their GLK trunk chrome (middle) to see if yours moves up and down.
Thanks

2012 GLK replaced the 2010 GLK for obvious reasons

these things are built strong - validates my 20+ years owning 12 MB cars.... hit on PS by runaway QX56 (driver fell out of her car trying to close the passenger door!) rolling down a steep street. Then hit by a new Mazda 3 on DS after being pushed into oncoming traffic. Everyone survived, GLK and Mazda written off.

Her insurance paid for the 2012 replacement GLK.
