350 GLK - 4 Matic
Canadian pricing / MB site change / Tire sizes

Not sure about the US site, but the build it now section in MB Canada for the GLK has been changed in the last week.

Couple of things I noticed:

Metallic paint is now free and not an $890 option.
HP has gone up by 4hp to 272. Likely just a HP - KW conversion.
Fuel consumption has increased to 14.2 to 14.6 l/100km city (used to be 13.3).
Tires are now different sizes for front to rear on the 20". 235/45-R20 front & 235/40-R20 on the rear. Completely confused why they would put different sizes tires on, but hey.

20" is standard here now, with the 19 being a free option. We don't have a sport package per se.

Attached is the screen capture from the Canadian site that says 235 size for the rear tires. However the manual states 255. Like the "free" metallic paint, I think they screwed it up. Everyone makes mistakes I suppose.

Yes it's a screw up. Only the GLK with the optional AMG body/wheel package has those tire sizes, etc.

I assume this is a US pack? I speak out of ignorance for the us builds, and admit I do not know what the AMG pack contains, but even if I wanted it here, I could not order it. The Canadian car comes with the roof spoiler, door sills and 20 inch wheels, aluminum fog light surrounds and roof rails as standard.

Sunday - Config tool back online. GLK still has metallic paint as a no charge option. Outstanding.

The USA site still charges for metallic paint but I noticed there are a lot more options/accessories you can have have put on at the factory (i.e. mudflaps, chrome package).

Had a quick look at the merc US site. It appears there are a lot of things you need to pay for in a package, that come as standard here. There is still a price difference, but then we up here, being ontop, as a rule tend to get shafted (literally) by car prices. Subaru is the worst (~$10K difference for exaclty the same Outback 3.0R)

Standard stuff in Canada (not all listed here, just what I noticed with a quick glance):

chrome tailgate step
chrome fog light surrounds (not exactly the same as the US ones)
rear spoiler
4 matic
metallic paint
auto dimming mirrors
rain sensing wipers
6 disc changer
20 inch wheels
aluminum roofrails
heated seats
cargo cover
grocery box
cargo divider

May well be other differences, but if I spec a US model to roughly the same as a Canadian, the pricing is close considering the loonie is close to the greenback right now. However, in the US, I would get the choice about a lot of things that here in Canada I have to take and pay for.

One thing I notice the US can get is the all weather floor liners for $150 a set. Thats one thing I will be getting next time I am near a Merc dealer in the US.

We get as standard some of the items on your list
Chrome Tailgate step
Chrome Fog Surrounds
Rear Spoiler
Rain Sensing Wipers
CargoCover
Grocery Box

At least I got all those things standard on my GLK delivered in December.
I had 2 options.
Paint And iPod . list price incl delivery was 36,570.
I paid 34420.

"However, in the US, I would get the choice about a lot of things that here in Canada I have to take and pay for."
If I lived in Canada I would not have bought the GLK, as I was looking for a grocery getter and was not going to pay over 35K.
It's amazing how much I have come to like the GLK just to zip around in.

You know how to make a grown man cry.....I don't mind too much though, I love the car a lot, and everything else even remotely comparible (eg..BMW X3, RDX, Q5, Outback 3.0R, XC60) is the same price as the GLK give or take a little.

This car for me is a keeper. I intend to still be driving this one in 6-7 years time. Hopefully longer if it remians reliable.
