Curious about AMG

I am wondering if anyone has any info on MB offering a true AMG version of the GLK? I know that MB is offering the AMG Appearance package for 2011, but that's purely cosmetic. Personally, I think the popularity of the GLK should at least have them considering the possibility. As a side note, I've see pics of the restyled X3 (5 years too late IMO) and BMW will be offering the turbo 3L motor. I hope we get another "horse power wars" out of this and MB steps up to the plate.
I realize that the GLK is a 2 ton SUV and not a boy racer, but a few more ponies wouldn't hurt. (I traded in a 135i to purchase my GLK and I guess I'm still going thru acceleration withdrawls) You opinions on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

nope no GLK AMG in near future. How many ML 63s do see around? There would be even less GLK 63s. Would you really get 60k-70k GLK 63 AMG? It would be a somewhat pointless car imo. Get a sports car in addition.

I just don't get it, ...why would a company like AMG known for their engines allow their badge to be placed on a GLK just because it has different bumper skins and a set of new wheels? Not even the C-Class with the AMG package gets a badge, why then does the GLK?

MB should be consistent.... Only when the AMG engine lays between the two front tires should the AMG badge be applied to the body.... period.

Totally agree. Without the extra hp it's all window dressing. By doing this, MB is just diluting the AMG brand. At what cost?

It doesn't get an AMG badge. The only part that would show an AMG logo would be the stamped wheels.

The two seen around these parts do have the AMG badge on their rear gate.... It's possible that these owners placed these badges there themselves. I will take pix next time I see their GLK's parked outside our favorite nite spot....

Otherwise, thanks for the clarification.... I stand corrected!

AMG PACKAGE

I have the total AMG package and wheels on my GLK...there is no AMG badge, if anyone has seen them it was put on by the dealer or the owner,,,, As far as HP upgrade goes I have the RennTech mods in my GLK and it does make a difference.... not crazy just enough to no its there...Computer re-programing..22 hp increase and more torque. But when you drive it hard to feel the power your MPG goes down...Normal driving 80 MPH I get 22.6 MPG.

Actually, AMG is owned by Mercedes now. They are no longer a separate company. And ya the GLK with sport pack is not labled as an AMG by MB. Its something that owners like to do.

At least is MB Germany consistent with regard to listing the range of AMGs:
http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/...amg.flash.html

Not the faintest sign of a GLK there - yet
