Interior not as quiet as it once was
Not sure if interior pannels got looser or if I never noticed this before, but when driving with windows closed and radio off in garage parking I noticed quite a bit of noise coming from interior pannels somewhere in the back.
It has to be real quiet in the car to hear, because when I open the window, outside tire noise overtakes.
I have 14k miles and drive on rather crappy roads as well as in multi level parking garages which puts some twisting force on the car on a daily basis.
Hope this doesn't prgress. I rode in 3-5 year old RX330 and that thing was squeaking like a 20 year old POS car, hope GLK doesn't do the same in 2 years.

Mechanical noise or panel rubbing noise?
In an SUV the trunk is essentially inside the car so sounds from the differential and rear suspension are more noticeable.
I agree about not wanting the GLK to get all noisy; hell, if I didn't mind that I would have bought American!

Not sure what the dealer can do about a panel noise.
Loose stuff can be tightened or sprayed with silicone; flexing or vibrating panels are an engineering concern.

I hope this isn't going to be a widespread thing. We drive over rather rough roads at times here too. I'd hope the vehicle doesn't become too loose too rapidly.
I can't stand squeaking cars.

this is to be expected, I read on forums that 3 series is terrible after 1-2 years, so is IS250/350 so is RX350. So are many other cars.
Just to reiterate, the only reason I noted this is because music was off, windows closed and I was dirving 5mph. Road noise is louder than what I'm talking about. I'm actually very pleased with how car holding up after 1.5 years and 15k miles. I don't abuse cars but I don't baby them either. GLK is as realiable as two toyotas I used to have.

To some degree I have had the same problem. I think that most of the road noise that I hear comes from behind the rear seat. I think that the sound deadening is not as good back there and because of the open area it is worse. When I have a full load back there it is not as bad. See what happens when you put the clubs or other large objects back there. Just my theory.

well, vans and suv's are generally louder because of the big box design back there. I hope that's all NYCGLK is hearing. Our minivan creaks a bit if the bumps are big. So if it's just from twisting I'll be able to live with it. If it's just panels moving around then that's annoying.
We did test drive a few service loaners before purchasing our new glk. The service loaners seemed to have held up pretty well even after 15-20k miles.
