Has anyone gone from a C-Class to a GLK
I currently drive an 08 C350 4Matic. My lease expires in a few months and I have started the search for a replacement. I love the C, and I have this feeling that after driving a Benz, everything is going to feel cheap after. I have an issue with buying the same car twice and need a bit more rear seat room (I think the GLK is a bit better)
Has anyone made the same switch? Regrets?
What do you miss, not miss?
Thanks

GLK 350
I don't think the GLK has that much more rear seat room than the C class (this from sitting in the showroom C's and comparing), but there is more head room. The dash and everything up front driver-side and shotgun of the GLK seem almost identical to the C (with exception to the hideable navi screen ) so I imagine your experience wouldn't be too different; can't speak for the steering and actual driving though because I've never driven the new C before.

I had C as a rental, C felt pretty cheap to me. I like GLK better. Also C had a bubble in a tire with 2k miles. I have 16k on GLK with 20 inch rims and no problems.
On the other hand GLK is SUV and sits higher so it takes some time getting used to it after a car. It was easier to push C in the corners but GLK does fine once you get used to it. Also keep in mind the AWD is great, just floor and go. Not sure if C350 comes with AWD in Canada.
GLK has good back seats. I actually took a ride in the back and was surprised how much space there is, not sure what ppl complain about. (I'm 6 feet behind 5ft 5in driver.)

Mazda 5, GLK350
you can get c350 4Matic in Canada as OP has one leased =p
but having driven my friend's 2010 C300 4Matic and owning a 2011 GLK350 4Matic, i can say that the steering in my GLK350 was actually a bit stiffer than my friend's C300 and also stiffer than the GLKs that I test driven, which is actually a good thing as I drive cars with heavyish steering most of the time.
I feel the GLK is a better value for money package as the MSRP in Canada can only fetch ua C300 4Matic or so, thats alot less CC for the money (and when you're buying a luxury brand, i dont think gas is an issue most of the time)
The GLK also provides enough stability in cornering from its suspension imo.

2008 R350 & 2008 C300
Tires have nothing to do with the quality of a vehicle. O.E.M. tires are made so cheaply these days that any model or any brand of vehicle can be subject to a bad tire.

I drive a 2010 c300 sport 4 matic and my wife drives a 2010 Glk 350 4 matic.
I started a tread in the c forum on how much more of a value the Glk is.
they are within $120.00 of each other MSRP wise, but the Glk has a larger engine,
larger wheels, panoramic roof, etc. That being said, they are very different rides.
The c is more of a sports car road hugging ride, while the Glk rides like a Luxury vehicle.
It's up to you on which you prefer, but dollar for dollar you get a whole lot more in the
Glk.

2011 GLK350 White / Black interior + Aluminum trim: AMG Styling Pkg + 20" AMG rims, MM Pkg, Prem.Pkg
Back in July I replaced my 2006 C350 with a 2011 GLK350 and I'm very happy with it. 4,000 miles on it already. The C350 has the power and cornering, but the GLK's ride is more civilized and I don't have to deal with the asymmetrical tires anymore (now I can rotate my tires!!!). My GLK has all the bells and whistles except the lighting package (our dealer in Puerto Rico doesn't order this package). I just installed the MTEC HID kit from MTECPOWER and good to go! Now the only things I don't have are the cornering lights (can live without it) and the back LED signals lights (next project). The view of the road is very good all around. You should see how attractive this SUV is on the road. The LED DRL are an eye catcher.

+1, I don't do oil changes, but most gas station entrances, driveways etc. in NJ are really steep, main reason I picked an SUV. I don't have to worry about tearing my bumper off. I must say, if we had nicer roads, I would have picked 3 series.

Same happens down here in PR. Roads are not that good, specially with all the rain we had this year (most rainy year ever since 1898 ). When I used to own a C350, the front lower bumpper was scratched a lot because of this and the ride was hard.

I went from a 2009 C300 to a 2011 GLK. I liked the sporty feel the C-class offered with the "loose/light" rear end. Though, the C-class is far from a super car, for the price it held its own. I chose to switch to the GLK for a bigger feel on the road. I don't have any regrets doing so. The automatic tailgate lift isn't so bad either
