Officially no, as far as I know. Rumors are still fall 2011. http://blog.caranddriver.com/tags/me...-benz-c-class/

Diesel GLK in 20??
MB Bluetec = run flat tires?

The ML class Bluetec has run flat tires because the spare tire well holds the urea tank. MB should put that urea injection tank elsewhere in the Bluetec GLK. Is there enough room for that tank in the engine compartment when the 4 cylinder diesel is substituted for the V6?

We'll see. As said in another discussion on the subject, is the cargo compartment of the ML 350 BlueTEC 4Matic 500 l, wheras it is 551 l for ML 350 4Matic - meaning that the GLK could "lose" another 50 liter of its already marginal cargo area. In another thread was 20 liter mentioned, however will that require a more frequent refill rate.

It will be a 4 cyl diesel, right now I am hearing a late spring-early summer launch. Wether it has adblue or not is still out but if its a 4-cyl its almost a sure bet to be a non-urea system.

Got an updated 2012MY launch schedule, the GLK Bluetec has been delayed, as to when it will release it is unclear at this time.

That is a shame to hear. With fuel perhaps heading to $4/gallon and beyond, MB could sell every Bluetec GLK they could bring to the USA.

Diesel GLK in 20??
bluetec or blue efficiency

The GLK cdi250 4matic has been sold in Europe for several years. MB says on their website that their 4 cylinder diesels are compliant with USA 50 state standards which suggests that Bluetec urea injection will not be needed, at least for a few more years. Our Norwegian forum member has one and as I recall he said there is an issue with the high-tech piezo-electric injectors from a USA supplier. Lets hope that is the only hangup on introducing the diesel GLKs. The current model V6 reaching barely 20 mpg on premium fuel has poor fuel efficiency. New V6 & V8 engines are on the horizon for all MB models and the MB website says they will be 24% more fuel efficient.

As you state: 4 cylinder BlueEFFICIENCY diesels are compliant with USA 50 state standards, as they meet the Euro 5 emission standards. The BlueTECs will be compliant with the Euro 6 standards (which most likely will be implemented by the Aussies for all vehicles in 2015/17).

The injector issue (which affected our build May 2009) came to public light November 2009 (most likely known by MB in advance), and seems to have been resolved by injectors installed in March/April 2010 timeframe, and later.

I'm going to the 2011 NYC International Auto Show at the end of the month. Rumor has it that the GLK Diesel will be there. I'll keep you posted.

BlueTec or blueEfficiency

MBRedux,

Be sure to ask the MB reps at the show which type of diesel engine the USA GLK is going to have and whether the spare tire will remain in place. Thanks.

Man depending on how they work out durability and efficiency wise I would consider swapping to one with the diesel. I'm a huge diesel fan and almost bought an ML diesel but I just didn't like driving it as much as the GLK. I will give them a year to shake out the kinks and see how they are doing.
