Keeping Your Wheels Clean

I've been cruising around a Corvette Forum. I'm thinking about a vette rather than a 2nd MB and came across this YouTube video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2BjD4J3gy8

Has anyone used this stuff and does it work the way it shows in the video? Does it do any harm to the wheels or brakes?

Well the music is a little too much so I didn't get to see the whole thing but yes the stuff works very well on brand new virgin wheels. But after awhile wheel finishes do take a beating from all the road debris, winter sands and salts etc. This roughing up will cause dirt, brake dust and road grime to stick. So even if you re-treat the wheel surface again, it will not work as well as it did when the wheel was new. The finish will still need a good suds wash, a bit of good wheel polish and wax treatment.

I bought the Wheel protectant after seeing this video last year. It did do a good job with keeping brake dust down but after a couple applications my rims started developing a yellow residue, so I stopped using it.

PM me if you'd like me to explain how to mute your computer speakers...

What did you have to do to get rid of the residue? Was it hard to get off?

The trick to keeping the wheels looking good is frequent hand washing with car wash soap and warm water

+1 or can just rinse the wheels if they get dirty quicker than the car.

Wink

After wiping the wheels frequently with bare hands it's only common sense to wash them after. https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif
