Angry COMAND system can't upload address books from smart phones

I have a Ford Fusion that can do this....but my GLK can't. Nor does it bluetooth audio stream music from my phone. And the PCM Card is just bad technology. I don't want to buy a pcm adapter for my SD Card...just give me an SD slot. Other than that...i love my car....I love the look, I just wish they had a those simple things you would expect from a luxury car.

Thanks.

what else is new...? Fords Sync is prolly years ahead. If you like the gadgets you don't go for entry level german car.

btw PCM card reader is not that bad. I got adapter for 20 bux and 16GB SD card. Fits well and works great.

Figured it out

Just sync your i-phone contacts to Outlook.
Go to outlook contacts and highlighted them all. Cut and paste them...or email them to yourself.

Copy the VCD files to an SD Card.

Get a PCMCIA adaptor for SD cards if you don't have one. (20 sumthing bucks on ebay)

Place the SD card in the adaptor...the adaptor in your car.

Call up the address book and click the option: Import from Media Card.
You're done.
Delete the media card and use it for extra music space. I have a 16 Gb. That with the Hard Drive, plus my i-pod in the glove box is more than enough music I will listen to.

Other smartphones allow you to bluetooth the address book straight to the COMAND system. It's the "import business card" option.

Good Luck...

Love my new GLK....It just feels like quality and simplicity.

What PCMCIA card do you use? Is it compatible with the system?

CF beats SD card in reliability and speed, that's why DSLR uses CF not SD. I did load all my address from a phone to the Command phone book, it wasn't too intuitive but can be done.

I bought this:
http://www.diyinchina.com/5-in-1-PC-....html?rel=base
took around 7 days to receive.

Fitted really well. I left the adapter in the car itself. So that I do not lose it.

I had 1gb SD card. I have lots of contacts but exporting them into a vcard took just around 2 mb. Importing them into mercedes took less than 30 secs. So do not worry about speed or size if importing contacts is ur only concern.

The biggest drawback:

Once u import the contacts there is no option of deleting all contacts . I think you will have to reset the Comand system to get rid of them.

Let me know if you need any other info

@icool007 you can delete contact but one at a time, not all together in case u want to reload the contacts.

I don't know whether it will work with 8gb...Nothing mentioned on the spec. So I assume it doesn't work with SDHC

I have a 16GB card...SDHC and it works fine. I don't really have a neeed to go higher. Between the 6 GB hard drive, 32 GB IPOD, and 16 GB SD Card....I have more than enough room to put music on. too much room actually...I only wanted the card for my addresses.
I was pleasantly pleased that the COMAND system burned CD's to the hard drive. The salesman couldn't tell me if it did. ...

How many contacts can the address book handle? I have around 2000 in my Outlook contacts, but if it can't handle that many, I'll have to pick and choose (which might be good, anyway).
