Just wanted to memorialize my adventure in the new drive.

Technically the vehicle will be the wife's but guess who the grease monkey/pit crew duties go to? LOL!

Driving 6.5 hrs to almost the NC/TN border to pick it up.

Will post pics ASAP.

It's a beautiful day!

Ok. Timeout. Park the GLK. Wipe the grin off your face. Tell us all about. Did y'all get caught up in any of the nasty weather? I hope you are safe and warm.

Slow is a relative term. We shall see how the 30% increase in horsepower for the GLK compares to the Reference Standard Turbo Race Wagen. When the Minister of Speed Control and Driving Habits isn't present in the GLK.

My dealer has a white GLK350 AMG sitting proudly in their showroom.

Wayne
Waiting impatiently on the 4matic, BiXenon & LED iluminated, Apprearance Packaged, Palladium Silver, Grey/black heated leather GLK350 in East Texas.

Oh...no way...it's not slow. 0-60 are in the 6.7 sec range.
I think what happens is that most new drivers to the GLK forget to set it in Sport mode. The gearing changes & the revs are held longer.

It pulls & pulls. Not slow @ all.

Thanks for the comps; my sig has all the package codes listed.

Picking up our car from Asheville, NC - Part I

Wayne - since you've been the biggest new GLK fanboy around here (with all due honors I must say! LOL!) here is our story.

We struck a deal with the Asheville, NC dealer about 2 weeks ago over the phone after finding the last 2011 AMG Silver on the east coast for a little less than invoice OTD. Yes OTD (ie price + TTP)!

But we couldn't pick it up until this past weekend. Cliche I know but it was the longest week of my life!

Departed from Richmond, VA in the pouring rain to the border of NC/TN in a little over 6 hours. Must say when you have something to look forward like this, the drive actually went by fast.
& the rain magically disappeared around Greensboro.

When we got there, the car was out front ready & waiting in the bright fall sunshine. I had asked them to put on a bow for me since this was an early Christmas gift for my wife but alas, they didn't have a stock one.

Note to all dealers - have one handy - makes a big impression for every1!

We exchange pleasantries with our sale person- Laura - who happen to be the owner's daughter. She was fabulous. Articulate. & very accommodating.
My wife got a nice Merc Teddy Bear from her!

After, paying for the GLK, it was on to the very exhaustive list of options & how to work them. Laura, programmed everything for us from bluetooth to GPS to day time running lights.

I was geeked up & surprisingly so was my wife.

We said our goodbyes to this wonderful dealership - Skyland Automotive - and headed out really looking forward to our weekend in Asheville, NC & the drive back on the Blue Ridge Parkway!

ps - I highly recommend Skyland Automotive because they will work in your favor price wise. They don't spend a lot $ on overhead & a fancy waiting area & the Merc showroom is right across the room from the Dodge products. You get the point...they pass the savings to you.

Yeah, when I sit in the GLK after getting out from my Mazda3 it doesn't feel as quick for sure.

So I can understand now what you mean after getting out of the E63.
My little brother has a C63, so he can relate to you.

It's not a fair fight. haha.
