Must have parts/accessories...
Just wondering about purchasing new parts & accessories.
I'm looking at:
- McGuard 28017 wheel locks, $25
- Mercedes logo tire valve caps, $3 generic, or $16 official MB
- K&N 33-2181 air filter, $34
- PCMCIA to SD Card Adapter, $7 generic, or $25 official MB
Any other recommendations?
What are exact model # for oil filter, & other maint items, & where best to buy them?
Thanks,
Amazon has a great deal on valvoline synthetic thru there subscribe and save, also picked up my filter there (think I ended up with a Hengst filter).
Mud flaps. Make sure your dealer orders the correct version for your wife's GLK. M-B makes two versions: with or without running boards. Your wife will appreciate how much cleaner and chip free the lower half of HER GLK stays with the mud flaps installed.
Aftermarket valve stem caps? Who knew?

1) You have to make sure your adapter is 16 bits else it will not work.
2) OEM MB adapter only accepts a max 2gb SD card not a SDHC card.
3) The only other PCMCIA card that I know plays everything including SDHC card is the SanDisk 6-1 card for $39.99 on Amazon.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I find CF seems to write a bit faster than SD cards.
On the other hand, SD cards are a little bit cheaper.

Any chance these seize & won't be able to be removed?
I had some 'metal' ones on my old BMW & we had to break off the stem once we found out they had seized due to environmental corrosions.
Now I go with plastic.
The metal (either steel, stainless, or aluminum) will cause a chemical bond with the valve stem over time. Anytime you put dissimilar metals together you can expect a long term reaction, be it chemically "welded" or the opposite, corrosion. These negative effects are magnified by the fact that our valve stems are actually part of an electric sensor.......think electroplating, electrogalvanizing, etc.
Of course you could always take a chance & spray them with lithium grease.
But I'm too afraid from my experience if that would be enough LOL!
