Just drove home my wife's new 2012 GLK yesterday, wonderful car.
Just wondering about purchasing new parts & accessories.
I'm looking at:
- McGuard 28017 wheel locks, $25
- Mercedes logo tire valve caps, $3 generic, or $16 official MB
- K&N 33-2181 air filter, $34
- PCMCIA to SD Card Adapter, $7 generic, or $25 official MB
Any other recommendations?
What are exact model # for oil filter, & other maint items, & where best to buy them?
Thanks,

I picked up generic valve caps from the bay (AMG), look great!
Amazon has a great deal on valvoline synthetic thru there subscribe and save, also picked up my filter there (think I ended up with a Hengst filter).

What part of the world are you in?
Mud flaps. Make sure your dealer orders the correct version for your wife's GLK. M-B makes two versions: with or without running boards. Your wife will appreciate how much cleaner and chip free the lower half of HER GLK stays with the mud flaps installed.
Aftermarket valve stem caps? Who knew?

1) You have to make sure your adapter is 16 bits else it will not work.
2) OEM MB adapter only accepts a max 2gb SD card not a SDHC card.
3) The only other PCMCIA card that I know plays everything including SDHC card is the SanDisk 6-1 card for $39.99 on Amazon.

If you have a camera uses CF card, then it's might be a good idea to buy PCMCIA -CF adapter.
I find CF seems to write a bit faster than SD cards.
On the other hand, SD cards are a little bit cheaper.

Camera folks always jump on the latest & fastest CF cards. You can get yesterday's CF cards gently used dirt cheap. Or new for a little more. 8Gb SanDisk Extreme III cards are plenty good enough for music if you can find them.

I got some really nice MB door lock pins on eBay... the plastic OEMs are really cheesy!

Wow, I thought these didn't fit the GLK. Did the unscrew/screw right back in?

I highly recommend getting the Weathertech Digital Fit floor mats. They fit absolutely perfectly and the raised sides act like a bowl to keep all the winter slush contained. Well worth the money, IMO.

They fit very well indeed... but never, ever use anything like Armor-all to clean them or to even make them darker... (black weathertechs get gray & dull looking real fast)... makes them slippery as hell!Originally Posted by evo2turbo

Any chance these seize & won't be able to be removed?
I had some 'metal' ones on my old BMW & we had to break off the stem once we found out they had seized due to environmental corrosions.
Now I go with plastic.
The metal (either steel, stainless, or aluminum) will cause a chemical bond with the valve stem over time. Anytime you put dissimilar metals together you can expect a long term reaction, be it chemically "welded" or the opposite, corrosion. These negative effects are magnified by the fact that our valve stems are actually part of an electric sensor.......think electroplating, electrogalvanizing, etc.
Of course you could always take a chance & spray them with lithium grease.
But I'm too afraid from my experience if that would be enough LOL!

The fronts screwed right on, the backs must be pressed on but the new pins came with a rubber sleeve for this.
I used hair spray as a lunbicant; once it dried they were nice and tight.

Never had any problems w/ metal caps in over 11 yrs w/ our BMW nor 16 yrs w/ corvettes. Of course we remove them to manually check tire pressures every few wks...Originally Posted by MBNA109

I bought a set of the cheap valve stem covers on eBay but after a few months the logo started to fade and now they are so bad you can't really tell what the logo is on them.
Hope others have better luck.

Not surprised; valve stem covers lead hard little lives...
