Hoping someone can help - here's the problem:
I have successfully paired my Droid Bionic (and uploaded all my contacts) to the COMAND system. The phone dials through the system and the phone rings through the system. But, there is absolutely no sound. I have adjusted all of the volume controls up (in the phone settings menu and using the knob on the front of the system). I get plenty of volume via the radio, Ipod and all other media sources.
In addition, the microphone is not working. When I attempt to do a voice initialization, the system cannot hear me. And, when I try to speak through someone on the phone when connected to the system, there is no sound (ie no one can hear me).
This sounds like it could be a blown fuse or a loose wire or a disconnected wire. I did a system reset on the COMAND and it did not help. I also ran the diagnostics and everything seemed to check out.
Trying to avoid the dealer if I can. Any ideas/suggestions as to what might be wrong?
Thanks!

Try a differnt phone if same issue than it is likely the setting on your COMAND unit. I have no problem pairing my Iphone or wife's Samsung Galaxy on her GLK. GL

It's under warranty. Why avoid the dealer? I agree with Peter. Try a different non-Apple phone. Blackberrys work famously with the COMAND system. If the results stay the same, get thee to thy Dealer.

And you have verified that the microphone is not switched off during the call, I assume?Originally Posted by ecberthel

try in setting where it shows the Bluetooth devices ( Bluetooth device list) click options to the right then you can adjust the volume ... worth a shot
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Tried three different phones (another Droid, a Blackberry and an iphone) and in all trials I cannot hear the caller through the car speakers and they cannot hear me.
Sounds like something specific to the microphone/cell phone speaker is disconnected somewhere - all of the volume levels are up and the fact that the radio, ipod and nav can all be heard through the speakers really narrows this down.
Any MB service techs out there that have any thoughts on what this might be?
Looks like I might be off to the dealer...

Occasionally my radio has no sound. I noticed something that indicated the microphone was turned off. Does anyone know where the microphone is and how to turn it on?

Did you try to reset the system? if not push the on off button on the radio and hold for 5-10 seconds for a reset. But first check the mute button on your steering wheel or on the radio control panel.

You're not alone here. In my GLK350 and my partners E350 class both went sound dead but only when the phone was actively being used. The radio/CD was fine. After an embarrassing (for the dealer) visit to fix the situation, it appears when you make or receive a call, there is a menu option to silence the call in both our bottom right corners of the screen. It took 1 hour to find this menu to turn just this on or off. For some reason MB decided the term "Mute on/Mute off" did not make sense. Anyway 2 clicks later the sound was back. It's really easy to activate mute with just a tap of the command wheel. And it only works for cellular opposed to the entire system mute on the steering wheel. Bah humbug logic Germans!
