I hate to say this - but it emanates from my younger BMW modding days - I want those pedals!
As for the vents - upon further thought - if they spew out more air volume I wouldn't be totally opposed to them!

somehow I am very very pleased that I have the current model as this thing looks blah specially the front end. Those headlights doesn't even fit the boxy image of the GLK and the revised front AMG bumper looks bad with those soft corners....come on MB what the hell you guys doing? It's like the GLK is squinting or something and the regular bumper looks like it is smiling like those mazda cars. The interior now has too much wood and again what's with the curves all of the sudden? One thing I really do like is the new steering wheel and everything is just too much to look at. The current GLK really has "the character" as everything is angular and sharp and now this little thing is becoming soft. So somehow those spy shoots that we saw a year ago is true to itself that is the direction of the GLK and good thing I didn't wait for it. Ohhhh.....yes new engine and YES, lots of carbon build-up in the future! Unless the DI issue is resolved I am not swapping my GLK with any DI MB cars unless I go to a lease route.
one more thing....they still forgot to place a proper sunglass holder. After all of the interior revisions that they did the cubby where the old shifter was is still not the right location for a dedicated sunglass holder. Why is it so hard to revise the upper console to accomodate that? The fact they moved the shifter to the steering column is really a joke. Good thing they kept the original AMG wheels (one thing they did right) Ohh well...now we have something to talk about this little ute once someone gets a hands on it and start disliking it.

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
To each his own, I guess. I have driven almost exclusively manual transmissions for my 40 years of driving, with only a couple of exceptions, now being one of them. I just don't see what's particularly "sporty" about putting a shifter into drive, driving, and then putting it into park, wherever the gearshift is located. Then again, I am eligible for AARP, even if I haven't joined. And I haven't driven a car with a steering wheel shifter since my very first car: a 1967 Lincoln 4-Door convertible. Thanks for taking me back to 1972. Does anybody else remember push button automatic transmission?
As a child, all of our family cars had column shifters; at first they were 3-speed manuals on the column ("3 on the tree"), and later 3-speed automatics. The 4 on the floor was reserved for sporty cars and European cars. Therefore, I associated floor-shifters with being sporty, and column shifters with being old and boring.
My first car was a 4 on the floor. Over time, my cars came equipped with 5-speeds and 6-speeds. I have actually never owned a car with an automatic.

The update looks like it will appeal to Audi buyers with the led eyebrows and more tech'd out look.
But I personally hate led driving lights. They look good on the R8 and cheesy on everything else. Every time I see them on non-Audis, I cringe. They even look chinzy on 911's.
Also, although the facelifted AMG looks nice, the base model (which I assume is the brown one in the pics) is a mess up front. The dual grill looks like the last gen CRV.
I like the simple clean lines of the original. But this one will undoubtedly have more mass appeal.

overall a nice update but i think the headlights on this looks a little too much like audi's q 5 with the LEDs on top and everything.
infact I think overall mb is copying audi by putting leds everywhere

In fact it was spawn elsewhere notably the C Class refresh & the ML refresh.
the GLK was next in line I guess.
Plus car design industry is what it is - remember the bangle butt & character lines on the BMW? now every1 from Toyota & everything else has those elements.

My first post- I drove one of these...
Rented this car from Sixt last winter (December). Drove through Germany & Austria. As a slanted Bimmer fan having driven an X3 diesel in 2009 (Germany) and an X5 diesel in 2010 (Germany & Austria), I must admit this is an awesome vehicle and right up there with the Bimmers.
It does quite well at 100+ and exceedingly well on slick roads & snow. Roomy enough for a family of three with luggage-just. I want one, alas I'm too poor with old benzes in need of love..

Without a console shift selector, the paddles are now a necessity even though the tranny is a slouch. I like the steering wheel, much better than what we have now, but the size of the round vents are slightly overpowering. I'd prefer removing the lower door chrome trim but it does tie into the front and read chrome. The sloping nose is a little too bird-beak for me but I could live with that. I'm really interested if they updated the steering geometry and overall road feel. Did they incorporate electro-assist or is it still back in the 18th century?
